Fire mage traits

I only have 1 master blaster and trait, should I wait to try switching specs? I don’t want to be gimped

Also I read visions isn’t a good minor. Why is that? Wouldn’t you want more combustion?

As of right now fire is only good if you play with 3 Blaster master and possibly to Wildfire the bracers are also pretty much necessary to have a proper combustion phase I’m talking about the hyperthread bracers from the last boss in mechagon it’s on use is absolutely amazing and basically a necessity you also need a non use intellect trinket like balefire Branch or one of the PVP ones I would basically play Frost until you have the proper gear to play fire

when i sim now it usually has me removing my master blaster traits and the hyper thread bracers sim lower than my current bracers…

Your sim is prob not accounting for the "on use"effect of the bracers during your combustion cycle. All the top mages use master blaster its a absolute must. Look up preheet fire mage on YouTube ect hes has some fantastic guides to help people out i play fire alot as well and master blaster is definitely the way to go

Thanks for the help. I am a fan of all the mage specs. I believe fire has a very unforgiving rotation and I wasn’t playing it great in my testing.

I messed with all my gear and I’m doing the most aoe and ST as arcane so I’m gonna stick with that for now. Eventually I want to have 3 gear sets and definitely those wrists. I ran 3 workshops yesterday and no dice!

true, now if only i can get into a group to get the bracers.

What are you using to sim your character?

askmrrobot, i usually compare that with raidbots and see what overlaps

I had a feeling. AMR is terrible, don’t use it as a comparison, don’t use it as an additional resource, just don’t use it. The developers of the software are so few that they couldn’t maintain every class even if they knew how, and instead of trying to solve issues collectively, their position is to call critics toxic and mislead their customers on the accuracy of their software and its advertised additional features.

I feel like I have found sims to be fairly inaccurate compared to actuality. It may be because sims assume no movement, perfect rotation and perfect procs… But obviously that is never the situation.

It kinda sucks that to be “complete” fire requires 3x blaster master traits and a specific pair of bracers. At this stage in the game I thought we’d moved beyond that kind of crap.

I can get behind traits(I require traits as holy even) but those bracers are obnoxious… it’s like legendaries all over again.

The bracers are certainly the worst offender. I’m okay with certain traits being required for special builds, what I’m not okay with is the base spec requiring 3x of one specific trait otherwise it feels incomplete. That’s garbage.

I agree. I’m still using the basic 415 mythic pair from last tier. A 475 pair from raid does not make up how important the on use effect during combustion.

Mage(our class mechanics and rotations specifically) sims tend to be quite accurate.

A patchwerk sim assumes no movement and a specific rotation, but not “perfect procs.” A basic profile sim will be the average of many iterations and represents the average outcome, not the ideal. A player with good RNG and execution can deal damage considerably higher than your simmed DPS output.

Is it even worth trying fire before getting those bracers? I don’t have the traits yet so I’m rolling arcane(still fresh 120) but I played fire in Legion and it was obnoxious before a certain crit percentage.

I don’t think so.

I have 3 azerite pieces at 450 with Blaster Master on them and Lucid Dreams neckpiece. But I don’t have the bracers.

Whenever I try fire spec, my dps output is truly awful … something like 20k dps below what I do as arcane.

Even my burn phase as fire spec is something like 50k dps below what I do with arcane’s burn phase, and fire’s is on a longer cooldown.

I just switched back to arcane to change things up. I sim around 52,000 as arcane and 43,000 as fire. I don’t have the bracers or probably the best azurite traits as fire, but I was doing fine, usually middle of the pack in normal and heroic raid.

The bracers depending on your profile can be a similar DPS upgrade to a PvP trinket, or a Font from mythic EP; it’s 4-8% DPS. It’s not as big as people make it seem, but it’s definitely still an item to chase.
