Fire mage stat weights

Hello fellow ex-ice mages!

I’m having a bit of trouble with the fire mage stat weights and I was hoping to find some answers. My mage friends and most of the resources I found online say haste is king, with crit coming in close if you’re using the Fevered Incantations leggo (which I am).

When I sim my toon (Arcanys-Zuljin) for stat weights however I get this:
Intellect: 2.77
Versatility: 0.95
Critical Strike: 0.94
Mastery: 0.91
Haste : 0.68

As you can see this is the exact opposite of what everyone is telling me, so I’m confused. My gear is still pretty crit heavy because I was frost a few weeks ago, and I’ve been pretty unlucky with a few pieces (lol @ my shoulders and legs), but should I keep stacking crit like I was previously?

Thanks

Your sims are based off of your current gear , once you get a new piece to make sure it is an upgrade you will need to sim again , I use pawn and simulation craft , you have to manually add your own stat weights, just copy and paste , unless we have the same gear our weights will not be the same

Yes I do that too, what I’m wondering is why the stat weights are the opposite of what everyone is saying. Why is haste weighted so low when everyone says its the best stat for Fire Mages?

My guess is either a) you have a good amount of haste already compared to your other stats, b) you’re simming dungeon slice instead of patchwerk, or c) your trinkets are changing your stat weights significantly.

Stat weights change wildly as you get new gear. For Haste I’m finding that 21-22% is roughly ideal as it allows you to get 7 Pyros in during Combust. My stat weight for Haste was by far the highest when I was at like 17% Haste and once I changed a piece and went with all Haste enchants/gems Haste became my 3rd stat (although they were pretty close) with Vers as #1.

This is natural. Also how simming works is that it adds some arbitrary amount of a particular stat (I forget the number, maybe 60?). It could be that adding that amount of Haste doesn’t affect how many Pyros you can get in Combust and that you’d need, say, 120 Haste to get another. Or that your Haste is already really high and your other stats are falling behind.

In general, that’s why you also don’t usually hard stack a single stat. While Haste might be #1 in a vacuum, due to diminishing returns and how the spec plays at some point you’re likely better off adding other stats in lieu of Haste. It doesn’t change that Haste is #1 and Crit might be #2 either in general or with end-game (226) gear, but sims tell you given your current gear and stats what you could change to improve DPS.

Your weights also seem pretty low. My Int is like 3.2 and stat weights are in the 1.2s and 1.3s (around 210 ilvl), so you having a lower ilvl could also be a factor. Crit/Haste are prob the best with the best gear (226 ilvl) but at lower ilvls maybe not so much.

Your trinkets can also impact your weights. For example Haste will be even more important for getting more Pyros in Combust if you have a good Int buff trinket (the Gladiator Badge).

Tl;dr there are a lot of factors that go into stat weights hence why any good guide will recommend simming yourself over trusting hard stat priority lists. Ideally, your weights are all relatively close together. If one is particularly low or high it means your gear isn’t not optimally balanced. It’s constantly a battle to balance them and hard to get it perfect, one new piece can change weights quite a bit.
