With AQ around the corner and with mages going fire. in my guild we are practicing now in bwl just to get the hang of stacking ignites. my question to you with ignite that it sometimes goes out of our hands and its doing crazy amount of dps and getting up in threat. some were saying use Flask of Petrification. with the cost of black lotus now days; i would think using lips for cost effective. what are your options if ur the one with ignite damage and its going through the roof?
Have your mages stop dps for the buff to fall off. Or sacrifice a mage to the ignite gods.
Never stop always going big … DPS.
thats how fire mages works haha
or every mage stop for the buff to fall off or just simply let the ignite mage die
Just let the ignite mage die. Sacrifices must be made.
i get yall say stop dps. asking if it goes pass the tanks would u blink to boss and use lips or the flask? or if there is another way. we all love them world buffs and hate to lose them if there is a way to save urself.
You could use a lip if you are right on the tanks in threat and have the mages let your ignite fall off, that’ll probably save you. If you’re going way past the tank you guys need to be paying more attention to the chunks of threat coming in from a good ignite stack
If only I could be so grossly incandescent.
Ignite only lasts four seconds, so only the mage who is getting the threat from the ignite needs to stop DPS. The others can cast spells that don’t risk ignite like frost bolt while they wait for the stacks to fall off for four seconds.
I am pretty curious though would a flask of petrification remove a flask or supreme power?
Yea it would overwrite the supreme power
Then its definitely not worth.
Let me tank for you so they don’t pull threat
There is no other way, and it doesn’t matter if that mage stops. All threat from ignite goes to that one mage so if they other mages dont stop and let it fall off, the ignite mage still gets all the threat.
You have 3 options
-
The ignite mage is accepted as sacrifice so all mages can do their best.
-
Divine intervention/flask of petrification. Similar to number 1 except the ignite mage doesnt die.
-
ALL MAGES hard stop when the ignite mages threat gets too high, so ignite falls off and a new mage can get assigned the ignite by starting it up again.
LIPs are useless, they dont wipe threat. They just force the boss to switch for 6 seconds.
Simple and free solution: You and all other mages stop DPSing. Your cl will have a /y macro to announce a stop to it when they see threat peak past tank.
If you’re actually trying to parse a 100, then yes, you’d pop a petrification and then another supreme power. Parses don’t come cheap.
The other mages don’t have to stop dpsing, they can just swap over to a frostbolt or two until ignite falls off depending on how fresh the stack is. Also, if you’re close enough to the tank on threat, that 6 seconds from a lip may be enough time for him to re-establish control of the situation
