I don’t have nearly enough crit to be consistent. But dam, it’s so fun to aoe in dungeons as fire compared to arcane 1 button spam. Even on bosses you have multiple cool abilities and big cool pyroblasts (which lost all their value in retail and just your basic damage ability)
Put bomb on one target > use your AOEs to proc (hopefully) fireblast talent > spread bomb and maybe pyro dot > big damage

Two pyroblasts into spread in a row and your damage is more than your entire party. So cool. But i still need a lot more crit.
Most played spec in Cata and that will remain rest of expac
yeah but we are drastically under tuned and need a buff!!!
So reliant on crit. A real shame having to suffer through arcane’s boring playstyle to get there.
I either pop off or im just getting hard carried on some pulls lol but still fun.
Must not be that bad. As predicted fire has most logs by far.
Fire mage so far is pretty low damage but its to be expected since we scale with more gear better than everyone else.
The amount of logs has nothing to do with dps.
I had a blast playing fire mage with my limited time on it in wrath. If I could go back, I’d not bother with priest/warlock at all, moving the time they used up over to mage.
Fire was good in Wrath but this version of Combustion is insane. Especially in AoE.
don’t mean to be devils advocate by imho Arcane is better than Fire for multiple reasons:
A) Easier to play, More manageable during burn phases
B) More consistent DPS and reliable rotation
C) Has many team buffs that fire don’t have
D) Has a more efficient burst phase as well.
E) Better mana conservation in better mana regen CD’s and enhanced buffs.
Overall fire is amazing dps (if you can play it and get the gear for it, but most cannot)
and arcane is so widely used for these reasons and maybe a few more and it’s better for your average player, generally

Arcane is usually better at the start but arcane doesnt typically scale.
Where fire typically starts slow and scales, Fire is more like the caster version of warrior.
No one is playing arcane this isn’t 2011 Cata 4.1

arcane is so bad in dungeons tho, horrible aoe no matter if you weave blasts or just spam explosions
There are like 10x more fire mages than arcane mages
