Not all of Mortis’s threads are meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Some of them are deathly (heheh) serious.
And I happen to be in agreement with this one. Fire mage orbs were one of the best cosmetics introduced in legion.

The orbs are part of the charge system for Phoenix’s Flames.
So while they’re bringing the orbs back, make that spell baseline to fire. Then you can make the orbs a glyph.

Or, they could add the orbs to the Phoenix’s Flames talent that we can take.

Same guys who thought taking away the affliction lock balls you collect (dropped souls of your enemies) was a good thing. They only added back the talking Legion artifact after people complained.
BfA took FAR more away from class identity and coolness than it ever gave back.
