That is all.

Really? Why?
Play it and find out!
I have a maxed mage, Fire was neat but didn’t strike me as the most fun spec in the game. What about it does for you?
In short, the explosive on demand damage and satisfying mastery effect. Can go from neutral to insane burst on demand and mastery ensures great sustained damage. Rarely ever do I need to stop moving and turret.
The spell effects are fantastic, the sound design is satisfying, and the way everything flows is unmatched.
Having fire blast off GCD and useable while casting creates a minigame playing around heating up and feels liberating. Scorch in execute phase feels awesome, and pheonix flames is a very satisfying filler for AoE, and when FB is on CD.
It’s just a fantastically designed perfectly thematic and highly aggressive spec and I can’t believe I have ignored it.
Ouff. Fun is a subjective issue…
I hate the fire spec in its current state and this is one of the reason I abandoned my main mage.
Arcane takes a PHD in physics to play properly and Frost is weak…
and the most mobile, but in terms of AOE fun, frost takes that cake, over half of those spells are AOE lol.
Big badda boom while setting the world on fire.
The fire rework was very well done imo. The bottom right of the tree is in a weird spot but the majority of the tree is good. They just need to actually tune unleashed inferno to be competitive and the tree would be fantastic.
Yeah Fire is really fun: fast paced, satisfying rotation / feedback loop, minimal button bloat, great mobility. As Lanfear said the right side of the tree is a bit of a mess, with Living Bomb still being useless and Deep Impact being a terrible capstone. Annoying to have to spec through it to get to Firefall but can be reasonably swapped out with Hyperthermia if the boss jumps around a lot.
I know every spec has its issues but really the low hanging fruit of improving Fire would be making UI competitive and giving Living Bomb an actual niche (or just removing it and putting other talents in its place). Just strange to have a formerly-iconic ability be this pointless for so many years.
Have you played arms warrior.
No Arcane Missiles in Fire. Opinion discarded.
For so many years. I have been thinking about getting back into it. MS hit like a noodle a the beginning of DF so I stopped playing lol.
Frost is very strong rn, and arcane is one of the simplest specs in the game. Having it explained poorly to you makes it seem complicated. In reality it has a two button filler rotation (2x Arcane Blast → CC Arcane Missiles → repeat) and its burst cds are entirely scripted. You do 5 spells that are always the same in the same order, and then go back to your 2 button rotation.
Thats a little simple of an explanation and kind of ignores the fact that you need to know when to use your burn phase. Both for boss mechanics and to optimize your damage windows.
You need to be positioned a specific way for aoe trash so you dont pull extra groups with orb procs
Youre more than likely weaving decurse into your rotation this week which can throw off your burn phase by a few seconds.
Movement can throw everything off. I was the only ranged in my last eb. I was getting double charged by berserkers the entire run.
The rotation isnt that difficult to learn, its executing it properly all the time thats difficult. Its very punishing if you make one mistake.
I find myself lining up my cooldowns perfectly, stacking them and using them at the right time. Im positioned properly and nuke using everything i have. If i get lucky i can hit 800k dps with orb procs.
Demon hunter runs in and presses three buttons to hit 1.3 mil dps lol. They can do it every pull where i can only come close woth all cooldowns.
99% of the time its on cd, the ones you could change it would be the same for every other class - smolderon, gnarlroot.
Not too much of a concern enough for you to devote significant brain power to it.
Now we are just throwing anything at the wall lol.
Ring of frost between you and them, have your melee use cc when they are casting, shimmer when the leap.
People are and can do far more than this as arcane. Course it depends what situation we are talking about, but thats always the case.
Orb proc’s on a fire mage?
Living Bomb really sucks to press. It’s the one ability from Wrath that felt perfect that I’d bring back. You could feel the explosion when living bomb went off.
Wrath Fire feels great to play. Yes the ST rotation is simpler, but that doesn’t mean it’s less fun. The AoE also feels great with 3xLB > DB > FS > BW > FS (downrank) > Blizz, refresh LB on 3 targets, instant pyro for haste buff, > DB > FS > FS downrank cast.
It’s actually what current Frost feels a bit like, except you’re an absolute monster on raid trash and can do it every pull. I’d argue though that current Fire is definitely not for everyone. I can see where the appeal comes from, but a lot of players dislike having all their damage tied to the combust window, SKB and the current “AoE” rotation.
