I’ve loved the idea of Hyperthermia since it’s first implementation, and I’m glad that it’s seeing use right now.
However, because Hyperthermia’s duration is not tracked on the Personal Resource Display, and because Pyroblast and Flamestrike continue to consume Hot Streak! while Hyperthermia is active, it feels unintuitive when the buff ends and you have to reassess where you are in your Hot Streak! rotation before taking any other actions.
For perspective, I’m a bit of a UI-purist and don’t like using Weak Auras or other addons to track buffs and durations for me. I think that this issue could be improved by any of the following changes:
1. While Hyperthermia is active, critical strikes from your spells and abilities no longer contribute to Hot Streak!, and your current Hot Streak! and Heating Up buffs are extended by 5 seconds. Effectively “pausing” your current Hot Streak!, this allows players a few seconds to “recharge” your Fire Blast and Phoenix Flames charges while free-casting Pyroblast and Flamestrike
2. During Hyperthermia, casting Pyroblast or Flamestrike no longer consumes Hot Streak!. This would allow players to continue to build up to their next Hot Streak! cast by weaving in Fire Blasts or Phoenix Flames. I think this option goes against the desired impact of the talent, especially as a capstone talent.
The second option here would be my preferred solution, as I can monitor as the Hyperthermia and Hot Streak! UI overlays are removed without relying on Weak Auras or other addons to track my current buffs.
I’m curious what your thoughts are–do you agree? Do you have any other suggestions for this talent?
