Am I the only one that dislikes Fire Elemental as Ele’s main cooldown? I feel like it’s really underwhelming and doesn’t feel impactful.

I’m not talking about BFA, Fire Elemental has been their major cooldown for a while and it just feels so ehhhh. I like cooldowns that impact the rotation in some meaningful way.

I wouldnt mind if it was as cool as baseline primal ele. Or if it increased lvb dmg from some kind of debuff. Right now its just a boring cd where you push the button and you literally have zero interaction until it expires.
Yeah that’s exactly my problem too. I even prefer cooldowns that are flat % damage increases because at least then you feel your spells hitting harder. It doesn’t help that I hate pets/summons anyway lol

The more FS you have out the more maelstrom is produced when fire ele is out. Meaning that if managed properly in the right setting fire ele is an enormous boon to damage through not only its dmg but dmg from ES due to increased maelstrom generation.
Keeping this in mind for multi target bosses where you can maximize uptime of FS on multiple targets and running SoP to decrease the cd of Fire ele and running multi stacks of ES azerite trait i have seen some ele shaman pull insane amounts of dps. Esp in the CoS raid where there are targets galore for FS. Was watching this one ele pulling 200k ES crits.
The interaction is there if you are willing to take advantage of it.
Obviously we know about the additional Maelstrom generation from FS but something that has a greater impact on rotation and more consistently is what I’m getting at.
Fire Elemental should pulse an aoe around it’s target every time you lava burst, including mastery procs. It should also have a flat damage increase scaling with mastery, like frost mages water elemental.
Then it would feel much more meaningful.
Agreed. Popping Incarn on druid makes you feel like a god. Fire ele is boring and Primal Elementalist talent makes me cringe. I don’t want our cooldowns to be pet based, it’s just a headache.
You could have Feral Spirits as your cooldown instead.
Be happy Fire Elemental is at least decent.
