The 5% buffs were just not enough. Yes they helped, but they could use another round of buffs.

Targeted buffs would be better for sure. You are really locked into 1 build for all 3 specs (with some minor changes here and there). But I probably wouldn’t be opposed to another flat buff for now and a better tuning in 10.0.7.

Not enough for what? The data shows both frost and fire being around midpack after buffs. We absolutely do not need another round of buffs right now in that regard.

A buff to Frozen Orb will fix the 3-6 mob cleave gap. Frost has decent single target and ok Large AOE.
Fire and Frost need M+ orientated tuning now.
And I would love it if fire could get a 4th Fireblast charge, like legion or previous expansion fire mages of yonder.

All I want for fire mage is to have skb be 30 seconds. It would also be nice if flame strike was baseline. Damage is fine.

It makes absolutely no sense that a buff which requires hardcasting a 3-4s cast time spell only lasts for 15s. Forced to move a couple of times? There goes your SKB.

Always keep it at 7 stacks and only change the buff to skb when you really gonna use it.
Frost is fine, and the only thing fire needs right now is ignite ticking faster, to fix the situation it only blasts post 20+ fortified keys due to having more time to ramp.
Make it ramp FASTER and it will blast under 20 and tyranical weeks.
Frost is in desperate need of AoE buffs.

I have not played frost or arcane in about 2 weeks because fire has always been my favorite and most comfortable spec.
I’m doing good compared to fire mages of my ilvl bracket… but still garbage compared to the rest of my raid group.
It sucks but I enjoy playing to play.
I would like to see be achieved quicker. Like change it to the 6th HS used rather than the 8th but allow it to also stack twice. So if it isn’t optimal to use it right away you could gain a second stack of SKB and use both at once for a double length SKB.

same as me with frost.
Im 400 ilvl and doing around 40-42k dps, usually the last of dps, after me only tanks and healers
But jesus christ, i love play frost mages, i just want to be competitive.
Reading those posts here just shows to me that blizzard really dont know or care about mage state right now

I think some targeted tuning towards SKB would be good. One thing I think they should look at for all mages is the damage differences between buffed and non-buffed damage phases for m+. For example with or without Rune of Power, or Arcane inside burst phase versus any other time. I think that outside moment could be buffed in some way to smooth out the low spots. Mage swings so hard from tank dps to top dps if you’re not on top of your cd’s, which ends up averaging out to extremely low overall damage. Not really sure how they could do that, but it’s something I’d like to see changes too.

Honestly frost mage is pretty decent on most fights, its the heavy 3-5 target cleave and mythic+ thats hurting us. Snowstorm needs a rework or just replace it with something like glacial fragments with glacial spike added in. Snowstorm is a neat idea in theory but completely useless against enemies that cannot be frozen like bosses.
Please no more % buffs and just take a good look at our tree to give us a more interesting build choices that are competitive.

Completely agree. I’d even like to see massive buffs for abilities that are way too weak. Like living bomb and Flamestrike. Both need massive buffs. Blizzard for frost also needs a huge buff. I’m not sure a flat buff is what either spec needs. But some abilites could use some numbers buffs or tweeks in stacks/dot timing.

I mean, extremely low overall is just not accurate.
That isn’t to say the specs don’t have problems, though. Fire is often times completely at the mercy of their tanks pulling style. Arcane requires an inordinate amount of planning, and yes it does do measly dps if you screw up your CD timing. Both of them are pretty unplayable in low keys (where CD/ramp up based damage is a no go). You have to check quite a few more boxes and work a bit harder than most classes to get good dps, but that dps IS extremely good.
It would be great for an arcane orb+explosion/flamestrike build to be viable for lower key/simpler play, but I am thankful that atleast the playstyles we have currently are competitive.
The damage in raid for all three specs are very good. The damage in M+ for atleast 2 (no clue about frost in M+ lol) can be very good. The class tree is for the most part a banger. The spec trees on the other hand are extremely single note and hopefully are in line for some changes, in the future.
You kinda nailed it on the m+ topic. But 90% of groups are probably pugs and the tanks aren’t going to pull around mage timers. So in lower keys, pugs mostly (which most of the wow population does) mage will struggle hard. I’d argue that our trees are bangers because for fire you are 100% locked into 1 spec and for arcane you have 4 maybe abilities you swap between single target and aeo. The trees are dead and still need work as far as buffing the non used abilites.

Yeah, some keys for fire can be annoying, e.g. anything with smaller packs (feels like a waste of combustion) or time between packs (losing SKB), e.g. COS. Then there’s keys like SBG where you have zero AOE for low-hp spiders beyond arcane explosion, so even if you’re crushing it on boss damage, your overall at the end looks crappy for lack of padding. And that last boss is a damage crapshoot since you can never get rune off without having to move.
Agreed a million times over on letting SKB last at least 30 seconds. Makes no sense that the prep stacks last way longer than the actual proc, so you wind up sitting on 7 stacks unable to get a pyro off lest you waste SKB. (On that note, wouldn’t it be great if Tinder applied to Pyro? Right now we’re taking a talent that adds a useless 8% crit during Combust because Tinder is THAT bad.)
