Fingers of Frost after Flurry

So I know We go Frostbolt>Flurry>Ice Lance>Ice Lance to use all 3 procs of Winter’s Chill.

But what happens if the Frostbolt gives us a FoF proc, do we then do 3 Ice Lances?

Also do we only Glacial Spike if we have a Winter’s Chill stack?

As long as your target has Winter’s Chill or you have any stacks of FoF, yes you want to Ice Lance.

Ideally you only want to Glacial Spike when your target has Winter’s Chill, but if you find you are out of Flurry charges it’s okay to go ahead and just hit Spike.

Basically your goal as Frost is to ramp icicles as fast as possible and Shatter your Glacial Spikes. The best way to ramp icicles is Ice Lance since it’s a guaranteed icicle. Priority is Spike (ideally with Winter’s Chill) > Ice Lance with Winter’s Chill / FoF > Frostbolt.

Thank you so much.

To clarify, every Flurry that hits generates 2 stacks of Winter’s Chill on the target. Since Flurry hits 3 times, the second Flurry eats a stack, sets stacks to two, and then the third Flurry does the same. By casting Frostbolt into Flurry, the Frostbolt lands before the third Flurry hits and so it gets benefit from one of the prior Winter’s Chill stacks.

Also keep in mind your other spells benefit from Winter’s Chill even if they don’t eat stacks i.e. Ray of Frost.

Cheers. Even Comet and Orb?

Yep. All your spells. This is why Coldest Snap provides huge AoE Burst - it allows you to apply Winter’s Chill to a whole group of enemies and then dunk a Comet on them that Shatters.

One last question. If I have a single FoF and no Winter’s Chill do I still Frostbolt (spell queue) into Ice Lance?

As long as you aren’t wasting a GCD with downtime you can do either. Generally you are good to just go ahead and dump all your FoF’s whenever Spike isn’t ready. But to be nitpicky, if you don’t have any Flurry charges and you have any icicles saved up then you should be Frostbolting to fish for a Brain Freeze proc to help ensure you have a Flurry so you can Shatter your next Spike.
