I have been trying with this Hunter to get the spectral owl or any of the spectral cats, but no matter how long I wait I never seem to be able to find them.
But when I get on a different character on a different server I have been able to tame the spectral owl three times but I’ve spotted it five times and I tamed the green spectral cat twice, the blue one once, and the purple cat twice.
It makes it seem to me that the different servers are all completely different.
It’s mostly due to sharding.
I do believe that RP-PvP used to be the go to for finding pets due to getting their own separate shards (and generally being dead) but it might’ve changed at one point.
It all comes down to luck.
It still works have tamed some of the “super” rares this way, and going into WM also is another.
If you have a friend willing to help, they can make trial characters on rp realms and swap around different realms until they find the pet and invite you to tame.
Gotta get lucky! When I was a young noob hunter, I killed the spectral rare cat in Sholazar Basin and was assaulted in DMs for the mistake. Now I don’t kill any rare looking animal and often shout out the rares in General chat.
