This character has the achievement from 2009-10 my account was inactive for 8 years and I seem to have lost the ability since then
The “Find Fish” tracking ability must be learned on each individual character and its a skilled that doesn’t come by default.
The character-specific achievement is called “Fish Don’t Leave Footprints” and if you don’t have this achievement, you won’t have fish tracking. If you do have this achievement and “Find Fish” isn’t on your Tracking menu, open a ticket.

Usually this was in a trunk of some sort that you would fish up.
As an alliance player I would go to the Wetlands zone and fish in Sagefish pools and Wreckage pools around this “pond” in the Southeast corner of that zone. 30-45 minutes of fishing later… you eventually get the book.
Turn off the music and ambiest noise, read a good book and when you hear the “shplunk” noise of a fish biting, click the mouse. wait 10 seconds. click the mouse again to recast.
I’ve done this maybe 7 or 8 times and its seems like the most reliable method.
A lot of junk pools in zangarmarsh too
I wish they’d color coded the nodes. I have a character with mining/herbing/fishing and all 3 of those have the same color dot on the mini-map.
