Finally Tried WM while leveling!

I am leveling a Human Paladin and at level 27ish, I decided to turn WM on (based on some discussions here on the GD Forums). I was in Redridge shortly thereafter and was picking up a quest when a lvl 120 Horde came in and killed me.

Funny thing is, I didn’t care. I was like, whatever. Let me run back and see if he is still there. He wasn’t, so I rezzed and continued on my way. By the time I left that area having completed all quests I had probably died 5 times to max level Horde players, but again, I didn’t care. The 30% buff is awesome!!

And I thought I would never use it. I will try to keep it on until 120!

Alliance WM FTW!! Here’s to keeping my cool and finding spirit runs enjoyable!

You were probably worse off on the whole. That’s the point though - glad you had fun doing it.

Interesting thought. I wonder if the time spent running back offsets the bonus XP?

Probably in the town yes, but since leaving and questing elsewhere I haven’t died. Might have times like this throughout though I imagine.

Here’s to hoping for kind hearted Horde… um, nvm! LOL

All days wont be like that. Its pretty rare in my experience to get corpse camped while leveling. Most days you should be able to lvl in peace. At leat until you hit legion. Then its 50/50

Guildie was getting ganked too last night in Drustvar while leveling. He turned warmode off.

Couldn’t explain to him that the opportunity cost on giving up the 30% buff was too high.

i leveled my shaman from 110-120 and only got ganked a handful of times. one of which i’m assuming was only because i was at like 20% from running away from mobs instead of killing them. the troll druid who killed me didn’t stay around to kill me again once i was rezzed.

Does the WM bonus and heirlooms stack?

Wait till you get to the ganking maps

You will start caring :rofl::rofl::rofl:

The 30 percent bonus is far too op. Realistically you’ll never run into any horde anyway. They would have to constantly be ganking you for it to be slower to level with it on. The extra mob experience alone is insane.

It is really OP. It’s almost like they really want people to play with WM on

I turned it on, like many people, when the buff was raised to 30% for Alliance. I figured I’d use it while leveling, then I’d turn it off at 120.

It’s been about a month now and I haven’t turned it off once (except for brief periods so I could help summon if my Mythic+ group members weren’t WM)

It turns out that War Mode is the “real” Battle for Azeroth experience. You’re really doing yourself a disservice if you play without it.

Agreed. I feel like I see more people overall as well. Could just be me but on alts when I have warmode off it’s always just me at each world quest. With warmode on I always see other horde and almost always a bunch of ally too, especially at champs quests.

Interestingly, I rolled on a PvE server because I didn’t want to be distracted by high level players ganking me all the time. However, I am starting to see the appeal with having that ever present risk of being killed by an opposing player.

I may hate it next week, but today, it is fun and rewarding (most importantly!)

I am leveling a void elf shadow priest and I have only gotten killed once. I was entering the Dark Moon Fair and a druid dotted me. Other than that, I haven’t even seen anyone else and I am now level 40.

Yeah WM is fun! Great job at not letting high lvl gankers get you down.

After reading these comments I may have to turn it on with my 92 Rogue to test it out.

Can’t hurt!

“PvE servers” no longer exist, that’s kind of the point. (Or rather, your WM status is what determines if you’re on a PvE server or a PvP one, and you can switch at your discretion.)

As far as the time lost to a gank vs. the boost, avoiding Horde is easy and definitely makes the increase worth it. I think I got ganked once or twice total going 1-60. You may want to switch it off if you plan to level on Hellfire Peninsula - that is a prime feeding ground, as is Hyjal. You won’t be in Draenor long, it’s the fastest expansion in the game to get through. Azsuna and Drustvar are the two remaining feeding grounds in my experience.

I’ve been working on my void elf…so far haven’t seen any Horde. So far anyways. lol
