Finally got Void Elves: What should I make?

I’m looking to make a caster as I’ve never played one (Shaman doesn’t count). Priest, Mage, or Warlock? I initially wanted to do Warlock but now I’m second guessing myself for no other reason than “decisions are hard”. I’ve got a high level Priest I was leveling as Disc but when I swapped over to Shadow to see what it was like I couldn’t figure out their rotation at a glance. It seems complicated in a way that might make more sense if I’d leveled one, but just getting all the abilities dumped on me at once it was unintuitive.

Anyway, which do you all like and why?

A Gnome.

(lol)

Warlock is always good. I like them for how well they solo content - even without the pet they are very tanky. Same with disc but I’m not sure how that will play out in SL. Mage… given mob density in SL… and the need to kite… (shudder).

Shadow Priest, for me anyway. The lore and aesthetics are just so perfect for each other. Frost Mage is also a good class, with the Void Elf affinity for shadowfrost. The Affliction Warlock is all about Shadow magic too!

:four_leaf_clover:

All three of those classes fit really well with void elves, but if I had to choose one it would be mage especially a frost mage. I think it’s the funnest class to play of those three. My next pick would be destro warlock.

Or you can always do what I did and level a void elf of each class

(Commentary): Unit Exacitor loves mages. Mages have the best quality of life utility in the game; teleports/portals. You never appreciate it so much as when you can bind your hearthstone to whatever inn pleases you, rather than to the portal hub of the most recent expansion. That having been said, Arcane is fun and easy, Frost has always been strong, and Fire is a great way to unleash your inner pyromaniac.

priest cuz mobility on priest is broken

If you’re looking for thematics and ease of play, you probably couldn’t go wrong with either an Affliction Warlock or an Arcane Mage with your Void Elf. But that’s just my opinion. The Affliction Lock can be especially nice thematically with glyphs like the Shadow Succubus, Voidlord, Observer, and Floating Shards.

I’m not particularly a fan of Shadow Priests both due to how they play and that Shadow Form, even glyphed, obscures your character far too much for me taste. I’m big into transmog, and Shadow Form, just ruins it and the glyph does next to nothing to alleviate that since they changed how it looks.

Once upon a time the glyph made Shadow Form look something like this:

Now with the glyph it looks like this:

Anything but a warlock, the lore is kind of weird

I think shadow priests, warlocks, and rogues are particularly in-character for them. Grats!

@Féyrre brings up a good point.

A Subtlety Rogue has some nice shadow themes going on with its abilities, so if you’re not completely glued to the idea of your Void Elf being a caster, then a Subtlety Rogue might be another option. Subtlety is particularly nice in 9.0 with the Premeditation talent so you don’t have to worry about maintaining Slice and Dice.

Rogue… always loved the Blood Elf stealth animation and now we have it in the Alliance.

To the rogue people: DANG IT. I leveled a Rogue to 50 specifically to get the Void Elves, on Subtlety, and that would have been so cool to have that synergy there and I wish I’d thought of it sooner. I honestly might do a race change (or ask for one for Christmas since that’s coming up soon). And I could justify it since that character was the one to venture into the void and meet the Void Elves. I could easily do some “and also the void energy corrupted her” type deal.

If you’re going to race change you should do it before November 15th. Right now there’s a 30% off sale on certain services including race changes until then.

This. This right here.

Omg. That old version looked awesome! Why does Blizzard always have to touch things that aren’t broken?

I personally like VE warlocks, specially in pvp. With the racial and proper port set-ups, you can really confuse a melee player easily with porting all over the place. I had a few give up trying to kill me in bg’s because I’d just be going all over the place, first with the racial port, then the circle, and then directly after that the mini-portal! LMFAO!

They didn’t like “transformations” that changed you away from your races appearance >.>
