Final Verdict?

Why is this so weak now, everything hits like a wet noodle?

I would assume it is because we can use it more often then some of our generators since 2 buttons of our rotation can give us 2 hp each, and we can talent into passive hp generation.

It hits stronger than at the start of DF ( it was at 136% ap).

They only reverted the buff it got in season 3.
So it’s back to S2 value which was around 164% ap

Frost DK Obliterate does twice the dmg which havent been the case since cata

Can’t speak for DK, don’t know the changes they went through for obliterate to do more damage than it use to.

I can speak on Paladin though.

We got a lot of buffs to stuff that affect the rest of our damage, mastery is one of them and some interaction changes that makes other talents more consistent.

Obliterate might be nerfed, FV might get buffed back up.
All depends on where it ends up being relative to other DPS and where Blizz establishes what’s the average DPS they want to see.

I’m no DK expert in any sense of the word, but…

I believe Obliterate is essentially physical damage whereas Final Verdict is Holystrike damage which means depending on the target’s resistance, Final Verdict will take the path of least resistance to output max damage.

It also has the extra component of having the chance to reset Hammer of Wrath.

And as Greatbrae stated earlier, we can use it more often via our generators giving us 2hp if talented.

Also, to reiterate Benmarch, it still hits stronger than at the start of DF.

If you choose Templar, Wake into Hammer of Light feels really good to press.

Obliterate also only hits hard when you have procs.

Not the case.

Holystrike is negated by both magic and physical immunities like cloak of shadows and blessing of protection.

One of the biggest complaints about frost DK is that it has so much of its damage tied into Obliterate with Killing Machine procs that the rest of their kit does next to nothing. I’m not saying ret doesn’t need buffs, but you can’t compare two abilities in a vacuum like that.

Obliterate is physical damage by default. When they have a Killing Machine proc it turns Obliterate to frost damage (allowing it to scale with their mastery and bypass armor) and guarantees it to crit.

Well…damn.

I guess it’s good to be a DK now if you’re a fan. Good for them.

Killing machine has been that way for a while now.

Its a trade off, really. On one hand it is fun to see the big numbers and feel like you’re squashing stuff with massive obliterates, but on the other hand its a bit off putting when 50-60% of your damage is one ability and nothing else really matters.

Yeah, that would be somewhat frustrating from that perspective, no doubt.

i honestly would like to do 50-60% of my damage with one ability, your spenders should hit hard, your builders should not hit almost as hard as spenders

Yeah, well Obliterate is more of a builder in every sense of the word than it is a spender. And Ret was also in this situation already before the 10.0.7 rework.

People generally don’t like spenders doing 40%+ of the damage when they’re pressing builders for 70%+ of the gameplay.
