Final Fantasy XIV Community is WAY too proud | Toxic Positivity

There is no world pvp. There is Frontline which is like battlegrounds. And there’s a new pvp mode coming soon.

Yup, that’s why they pushed the test servers to instead be live servers for now, yes it means new content/patch delays, but they want to make sure every one is as happy as possible.

Personally my experiences with ff14 were abysmal (La Noscea start is turbo garbage with just run across the world over, and over, and over, desperately praying you have your Chocobo already so it’d at least be a bit quicker lol)

Square-Enix is a Japanese company, and just doesn’t have the technical talent to scale up their datacenter like that

You can check the pay levels at “levels.fyi” and see what I mean. You’ll make 2-3x as much working for a top US tech company as a top Japanese tech company

That said, I hope they figure it out, because it’s pretty ridiculous to be taking $10+/month and be unable to provide 50 cents/month’s worth of server hosting

edit: While we’re at it, let me go on record and say that FF14 sucks. It’s just WoW with M+, heroic/mythic raiding, and PvP all chopped off. Yeah, the single player/casual group stuff is fun, but if you want competitive content you’ll have to go elsewhere. It’s up to you whether that sounds like a good thing or not

I have watched WoW players display toxic positivity for four expansions now, all while subs have steadily declined.

FFXIV is actually good enough that it is worth waiting in a queue.

“toxic positivity” You must be one of the guys who complained about the painting of the woman and the Azshara questline yeah ?

Ah gotcha! I know like nothing about it, but it’s ok. Still hours of queue time is odd for the players to be positive about. Hard to enjoy an expansion if you can’t get into it.

It seems kind of funny how opposite they are, if what OP says is true. FF so positive to an unreasonable degree and WoW people are so negative to an equally extreme degree.

Perhaps you should look at the forums that are filled with complaints about not being able to get in…

Also the queues for me at least on the busiest server in my datacenter is less than 1k people, queues are not that bad now except for some, and you can always visit a slower server and log in and out there…

Its not positive toxicity the players are quite literally happier there LOL

This isn’t the FFXIV forums mate.

People aren’t positive about the queues or the errors but just understanding of the current situation. Because everything in tech is suffering from the shortage.

You can get into it. Either by waiting or playing during non-peak times (early morning or late night).

FF players aren’t always positive. There were lots of threads from people who were unhappy about that and the new Grubhub emote.

I’m on Crystal and at this time of night it’s still 3000-4000.

Its ok, it will get shifted to the Off Topic forums shortly. People just cant resist making posts here about that game, I imagine because they dont want the aggro they might get doing on the FF forums.

My first impression is that FF as a game cultivates kindness and positive emotions. It may sound simple, but it’s just in the fabric of the game.

It’s all being radiated from the devs there as well. If you watch the interviews with their game director, he’s always very kind and down to earth, there is no corporate talk. So you know that they sincerely care.

With WoW we kind of assume maliciousness from devs side. Like they’re chasing metrics and hiding behind PR talk. Thus there is less forgiveness for them.

Been dealing and beating the queue boss since Endwalker Early Access began, been able to play fine for the most part. Weekends are far worse to deal with compared to the weekdays.

See… this is a weird take IMO. Cause while I have no reason not to believe…

I also can’t read it as not satirical or a WoW player on heavy copium, because you can’t see why the FF community is the way they are and just aren’t another toxic community like WoW’s tend to be.

Don’t get me wrong, the queue times are garbage but still… that and the only Toxic positive that exists to my knowledge, is an echo-chamber and the FF community and Yoshi P himself def do not fit that description.

Because they cannot get the items to upgrade their servers because there is a world wide shortage. If theyre trying and theres nothing they can do about it then how can I be upset?

Edit: People can say my positivity is toxic but IDGAF. If the Devs are gonna communicate and keep me in the loop then it’s the least I can do to be positive and try and keep them communicating. I’ve seen what happens when the devs detach from the community with WoW and thats something that infuriates me.

OPs whatever that was aside… yoshi san has had like a decade to get better servers instead of the dumpsters they are using. This isn’t a wonky launch. This is a company being cheap after many issues in the past.

They have had to keep a perma login throttle on their data centers because they are garbage. Add an expansion launch to that and it’s just pure incompetence.

FF14 is wow related. Most of wow’s players are there now.

I don’t get why these games are constantly being compared to each other. I play both and they are almost the complete opposite of each other besides the fact that they are both an MMO.

Final fantasy is a game you play when you just want to chill and not actually have any competitive content. Not saying that all final fantasy content isn’t challenging, but the difference is WoW basically tells players that they suck based on damage meters, parsing, IO score, etc. Which can create toxicity amongst players or be a hard truth for the ones that are bad at the game with no way to hide from that truth because you can track everything from dps, interrupts, damage taken, buff uptime, cooldowns, healing, etc and find out exactly who the weak links are with minimal effort.

Problem is nobody likes being told they suck or having others call them out, so that’s where more casual players end up enjoying FF14 more because they can basically hide their lack of skill since the game doesn’t allow dps meters. Which isn’t a bad thing, but the competitive level drops significantly and what others expect out of you drops as well.

At the end of the day WoW is for more hardcore gamers who like competition, and ff14 is for more casual gamers that want a more relaxing experience. I’m not saying one game is better than the other, both are great games for what they offer but IMO they almost can’t really be compared to each other because they are intended for completely different styles of play
