This isn’t surprising, we’ve known this since ARR was made.

A lot of the game’s design mimicking the Mists of Pandaria expansion in both systems and class design (at least, back in 2.0/3.0) shows this pretty obviously too. And how we’re still essentially grinding valor 8 years later.

I would 1000% play WoW if I was a Game Director/Desinger for any other game - WoW is a great place to ID all the things you should NOT do in your game.

Although to put it simply - disrespecting your customers’ time is the foundation.

but we don’t know that, all we can see of his involvement is his barely touched shaman. He never shows any emotion over the game and, at least when he used to do interviews, just basically spouts out facts on what they are doing and why you’re wrong.

Metzen was great yes, though I will never forgive him for forgetting he already wrote Eredar, Sargeras and Draenei lore back in WC3 and essentially made everything completely the opposite in Burning Crusade…

I’m just concerned that with the revelation of Blizzs workplace ethics, it’s difficult to imagine that Metzen didn’t at the very least know and turned a blind eye.

Beyond that he had great showmanship though, absolutely. Same with Ben Brode. Hearthstone announcements really lost a lot of something special when he left. The dude even sat down in front of a camera and sang a theme song for an expansion that broke the tradition of having a musical trailer. I think that was Ungoro. Guy was a blast.

The amount of people ERPing on FFXIV is actually kind of hilarious. Crystal Datacenter is basically the hotspot and from what it seems Primal (At least Hyperion which is what I’ve had a character on since ARR launch) has apparently become the furry ERP server. People are just straight up going at it in Novice chat every time I’m on the game. It’s very cringe.

All the FF14 RP is generally just ERP with catgirls that “come equipped with an extra surprise” anyway.

In his most recent interview he actively encourages FF players to play WoW/NW and other MMO’s thats available on the market.

He has been on the receiving end of lack of comms by developers so his main goal is to create a clear line of communication between devs and players.

He believes that players should not be shackled to 1 game (renown weeklies like WoW) that makes a player feel like they are obligated to “play” the game.

He simply says if FF isn’t giving you the same satisfaction please play something else while we create more content for you to enjoy.
