If world of warcraft made there game on console with crossplay like ff14, do you think it would have more players.
It may boost some numbers but crossplay and controller gameplay isn’t the only thing that makes XIV what it is, so thinking that’s all WoW needs to be successful is not looking at the bigger picture.
WoW would need a drastic overhaul from the ground up to support combat based around a much quicker global cooldown being playable on a controller.
Atlas drew in console players regularly in their perpetual Early Access, buggy and terribly optimized mess of a game. I’m sure WoW would do okay, but the investment to overhaul a 20 year old game engine might be a lost cause.
Well it’s a console port, so it’s pretty likely, given the audience of which consoles are meant for.
As for Crossplay, i’m not sure how fair that would be to pair people up who are playing on the console (which is notorious for locked hardware, so be prepared to dip in 30, sub 30 in busy things) and have only a controller, vs somebody who is on the PC who has a more accurate and versatile option and can have higher framerates then 60 or even 120, even if their PC is just a potato, oh and addons/macros. Unless Consoles also allow Keyboard and Mouse, as well graphical options (that isn’t just a simple high detail mode on/off toggle) and addons/marcos.
Isn’t WoW already playable with the controller? It’s just the minor details and the UI rework to fit with the controller they are missing now.
