Aside from the fact that the four faces can all be adjusted a bit to look a little bit different, the facial stuff is probably the only point in this list that’s an issue.
The amount of default hair styles is huge and if you want to unlock more, there are 36 additional styles - and only 6 of them are purchased via the shop.
The “notable issues with certain races and hats” is far more visible in WoW, where all races are affected by vanishing hair and beards when wearing hats or helmets. Not to mention the eyebrow and ear clipping. They should fix Viera, but overall hats and helmets are handled much better.
Two races had no second gender option in FF, while in WoW you couldn’t even play half of the races if you wanted to play with your friends and your guild in one of the two factions (which is also not really an issue anymore).
Sure, there’s always room for improvement and the customization stuff should have even more options. No doubt about that. But I’d prefer the FF character creation at any time.
It’s funny when you got casual players who are subbed to both WoW and FF and tries to defend and execuse the behavior that’s wrong and commonly spoken about in the outlets. Wonder which mount made them sub back to WoW this time…
It’s like saying everyone has rose-tinted glasses and they only see and endorse what is good and how everything is pretty and if you dare saying anything is wrong with the game people are going to drown you with how wrong you are and how every is good and other games are bad because FF does this better or easier etc. Kind like going Wolololo convert them to us or make them a pariah.
They shouldnt be in the shop in the first place. Additionally, I feel like having customization options locked behind grinds is kind of dumb especially when they arent account bound.
I think there is an entire realm of difference between “clipping” (which FF14 still has plenty of for armor - stop thinking this is a WoW only issue) and “literally remove the ability to have it appear” on certain races.
Additionally, I think doing the “remove ear” option is a good idea either, as it has brought up scrutiny from people who play miqote where they just clip off the ears.
…you know there is cross-faction guilds right???
But going “b-but WoW” doesnt excuse the limitations of FF14, people do this all the time in FF14 and its annoying because it only serves to downplay actual criticism by deflection. Its half the reason I dont play anymore - outside of my boredom and distaste of EW.
We have cross faction but to be honest Blizzard need to remove -ALL- the restriction. Until that happened people will struggle to swallow into the cross faction movement. BG / LFG / LFR needs to be all cross as well. Not just premade stuff.
It is because we’re in a era where people just want to play whatever they enjoy. Friend 1 wants an elf, friend b wants an orc, oups they need to wait to do m+ or arena or join a premade raid group to play together. It’s nothing that helps casual players.
I think that generally no MMO with a subscription based system should have a shop for cosmetics. But it is how it is, sadly. It’s become the norm and will never go away again. I agree that it’s pretty dumb that nothing is account bound. Sure, in theory there’s no need for alts when you can have all jobs on character, but it’s dumb nonetheless.
But I think it’s fine to lock a part of customization behind farm. For me personally most of them are kinda ‘meh’ anyway and I found the perfect hair style for my character. I have no problem with farming the dances, as it gives me some clear goals.
Now, yes. For almost 20 years they weren’t there and even now the process is still not complete.
It’s something that people made up so that they can cope with others enjoying something that they don’t enjoy. It’s like here on the forum if you disagree with someone they automatically claim that you’re just trolling. People have a really hard time believing that their opinion isn’t the only opinion out there.
Let me be a Tauren and Vulpera in the Alliance. Let me be a Dark Iron in the Horde. I don’t want to feel forced based on race of all things to pick a certain faction. Loyality should never be tied to race, not even in a fictional world. It’s just stupid, outdated and above all an unnecessary and extremely annoying restriction.
My brother is not interested in interacting is social platforms but strangely enoght he did once in the FF14 forums (I never even once have visited), and complain on the same thing… he even added that “some” of the FF14 community behave almost as unhinge as a some weird toxic positive cult/religion if you can believe that… (mind you that this has been stated to be a very small unhinge but vocally LOUD part of that community as stated by fan and in-game players themselves that is best ignored)
He still read post but never again did he comment on anything… He loves the game and the potential it has, however lately he’s been moving away bit by bit…
WoW has been hitting all our sweet interest points and like checkboxes, in an online game lately… being so open to feedback no matter how unhinge is one of those favor point WoW have.
Then again with soooo much feedback form different preferences or perspectives, I can see why Blizz sometimes decides to go on another direction or just appear to just “shelve it” until they can work on it.
I also suspect we have to give thanks to that to the Community Managers who skim through all these forums and grab the feedback to be given to the respective teams in Blizz. (IMO)
lol well I read snarky, rude, unhinge, funny and trolls (all of the above too lol) but never seen anything akin to describe as a cult… Maybe I have miss does post… darn it, thats some good WoW drama I miss if true does exist here!
You definitely did. A few days ago, a Gnome player opened a thread demanding that anyone who dares to criticize WoW should be banned, and believe it or not, there were some who agreed. Of course, there were also many who thought it was absolute nonsense, and so it went back and forth. And that’s just one of the crazy things happening here.^^
I’m not saying that FF14 players are innocent. Generalizations are always bad. You’ll find bad apples everywhere. You can only speak from personal experience, and that might vary from one person to another.
What is annoying, though, are the constantly appearing threads in the WoW forum where hardcore WoW fans trash FF, even though it’s more than obvious that they never really gave the game a serious chance and probably never touched any game other than WoW. This usually becomes quite clear from the way they articulate their opinions on the topic.
Like… what is it with WoW players, who constantly bring this topic up, just so that they can rant about a game, that they are not even playing? Do they feel threatened by the mere existence of FF? Believe it or not, you can play more than just WoW in your life.
It’s difficult to not generalize when it occurs in masses and with too much abundance. Going case by case would open up a endless jar and aiming specific situations would be rather a endless digging.
I mean I’m from WoW and I’m nice with who deserve it and a complete heartless meanie to who deserves it because MMO RPG in 2024 is law of the jungle, unfortunately. Sometimes you got to bite.
