Figureprints Warcraft figurines

Is “Figureprints” the company that produces 3d printed models of your Warcraft characters still affiliated with Blizzard in any way?
I ask because over 6 months ago I gave them more than $200 Australian dollars to have a figure created and shipped to me.
Not only do I not have the product I paid for, but they are completely radio silent and will not reply to any of my queries regarding the money or the figurine they owe me. At this point I have given up on ever receiving the product, a refund or even a response from them and I would like to warn other people not to make use of this company. Blizzard if you happen to read this I really hope you don’t have any ties to this apparent scam. Has anyone else had problems with Figureprints?

They’ve never been a responsive company. I read that some people don’t get their product for over a year.

Took me almost a year to get mine. Not sure if they’re just backlogged or what.

Did you ever receive any correspondence Nillah?

I bought one as a gift for a friend in 2016 and it took 2 months to get, I think their capacity is low and it all depends on how busy they are.

I wouldn’t order again though. The quality didn’t measure up to the cost.

I don’t think I ever tried contacting them, but I never heard from them either way. After awhile I googled it to see if anyone had a similar experience and it seemed common to wait 6 months+ so I just stuck it out.

Ok thanks, I got similar results from searching, I just had alarm bells ringing after sending them a few emails asking for a response or a refund and getting nothing back. Even if I do get the figuring some day, I will never recommend a company that has such poor communication and output. I really hope Blizzard revokes their licence and gives to someone reliable.

Considering they still don’t support Pandaren figures, I’m guessing they’re working off the Cataclysm-era models, too, not the updated models.

I too wish Blizzard would pull their license and find a better company for this service.

I was thinking they must be somewhat irrelevant in our new age of commonplace 3D printers. But I remember back when it launched there was nothing else like it on the market.

They take forever.

They don’t seem responsive.

Contact your visa/whatever company and get a refund/chargeback.

Do a search for 3d printer places, that will make stuff from a model viewer/whatever. That can be done with Wow characters, I think. You just could not sell the results, since the character art is copyrighted and requires licensing. At least I’ve heard of players doing that privately.

Yeah, why can a legit company like Blizzard find a more legit figure maker? Or, like they did with the Blizzcon player figures, DO IT THEMSELVES? Seriously, sometimes it seems Blizzard doesn’t want to make money.

I was just looking at the website. It looks like something made back in the early days of web sites. I would not order anything from them at all. Buyer beware !

Synchronicity in action!

I was talking with my SO about the possibility of getting a FigurePrints figure yesterday. And now there’s this thread.

Wonderful!

Sadly, judging from the feedback here, it doesn’t seem like the prognosis is great.

Has anyone had a positive experience with them?

I have a Figureprint of my hunter main. Mind you, to place the time it was ordered, I think it was late into when Serpentshrine Cavern was current content back in BC. (The figure is wearing gear from SSC and TK.) When I ordered mine was when there was a long wait list to even place an order. That or it was a lottery system where you got to order if/when your name was drawn. The reason I don’t remember is because it was a friend of mine whose name finally came up after a long wait and by the time it did, she no longer had the funds to buy a figure, so she let me order in her place.

My experience with the company was as follows:

– The website shows exactly the pose of the character model with the armor you have chosen. This pose is “cleaned up” before printing. (Example, armor clipping things is fixed, etc.)

– It took a decent while to get the figure after ordering. (I don’t remember how long, but I think it was months, plural.)

– The company has problems printing some appearances, namely glowing things. (Like the A’lar fist weapon I chose.)

– They were communicative about the above problem and accepted screen captures of my character to get the weapon right, but on the first figure shipped to me, the weapon’s color was printed completely incorrectly. (It was brown/grey instead of fire colored.)

– In their defense, when contacted that there was a problem, their response was very fast and a second figure was printed which arrived much faster than the first, this one with the weapon colored correctly.

– The domes the figures are in seem to be a standard size. I know mine is much taller than it needs to be to contain my Figureprint.

– When you look at it, the surface of the figure is matte (not shiny) and there is some blurring of some colors/lines here and there. It appears to be machine painted, not hand painted, but it’s hard to tell how exactly it was colored looking through the glass.

– I contacted the company about a year or so ago to ask if they were considering offering additional poses and response was relatively swift. (The answer was “no”.) That’s my only recent contact with them.

Overall, do I like it? Yes!! I love my Figureprint! I have often considered ordering from them again but just never have the spare funds. Do I think it’s possible to make higher quality printed figures with new technology? Definitely. I do have to agree with the guess that they have never updated their machinery since they offer no models post-cataclysm.

As far as waiting for it… (shrug) I’m a very patient person. When I special order things, I’m ready to wait. I placed an order for custom jewelry from an artist I like back in early November. She only recently contacted me that it was almost done. For me, it is what it is. Things take time.

If you do get one, be warned to KEEP IT OUT OF THE SUN. These seem to fade decently easily. The company let me keep the misprinted figure and I kept that one on my desk (where it got hit by some amount of sun every day) while I kept the correct one in a much more protected location. The misprinted one has definitely suffered from the sun exposure. (Which made me move the good one to a completely protected spot in my bedroom.) However, the figures are now also over a decade old, so take that for what you will.

EDIT: If anyone thinking of ordering a Figureprint wants to see up close photos of mine as an example, I can take some. Once again, remembering it’s nowhere near new and I don’t know what the company might have changed about production since.

I’ve always wanted to get a FigurePrint of my main here… But alas

I would love to see one (or two!) close up when you get the chance

I second the motion.

Here’s a not very good photo of mine. The figure was probably made around Cata. I’ve been keeping up with Figureprints a little recently and it looks like they are finally catching up on orders. There has been action on their FB page. I’d really like to get another made as I’m quite happy with how this one turned out. I just hope the current figures are of the current updated models.

I don’t know how to post images directly to the forums, so I put them up on a site here. (This ridiculous new forum model won’t let me include links, so people will have to cut/paste. :frowning: Replace the (DOT) with a . in each link.):

So people can compare the Figureprint to the actual armor in the game, she’s wearing:

Claw of the Phoenix (weapon on her left hand)
Rage (weapon on her right hand)
Pauldrons of Primal Fury
Ranger General’s Chestguard
Rift Stalker Gauntlets
Belt of the Black Eagle
Rift Stalker Leggings
Quick Strider Moccasins

Most of the photos are of the correctly printed figure with two photos of the one with the incorrect color on the Claw weapon. The misprinted one has been exposed to some amount of direct sunlight every day since I got it and you can see the resulting fading. (When new, the colors on the two figures were near identical, mistake aside.)

When I got them, I was most impressed by how many details they got, including the little night elf eyebrows and every little individual tooth(?) on the edge of the shoulders. I tried to get a good picture of that. The dome is very lightweight and is sealed. (I took a picture of the seal too.) They recommend never opening it, which I haven’t, and I’ve never had any problems at all with condensation or anything inside the done which shouldn’t be there.

Voila! As I said, I love it. I’m super happy to have one. Little did I know, over 10 years later, I would still be playing the SAME CHARACTER as my main. (LOL)

Good luck, I waited for about a year before I received 1 broken figure and another one. They are a horrible company that makes low quality products.

Cool! I love how they did the beard/moustache. I’m interested to see the dome on yours looks like it fits the character’s dimensions well, whereas the dome on mine seems disproportionately tall for the figure. (Not by enough to look bad, but it’s noticeable.) Maybe they changed something between BC and Cata.
