I understand the change… BUUUUUUUUT I noticed something of an oversight that’s… unfortunate to say the least. The old NPC had the dialogue/gossip as “Move along, Citizen. There’s nothing to see here.” This has NOT changed with the new NPC and without looking it up it almost seems like blizz saying there’s nothing to see, move along… shouldn’t the dialogue have changed to something less… suspicious? something that doesn’t seem like they’re trying to sweep the current happenings under the rug?
the intention is quite clear but the execution missed the mark
What I’m saying is if you’re going through the hassle of changing the NPC for a reason… why not change the dialogue to something different than the original NPC? Go the whole 9 yards and make it so it doesn’t look so suspicious as to seem like they’re trying to sweep it all under the rug.
I firmly believe it’s just an unfortunate oversight after comparting the dialogues (unchanged between the old NPC and the new) all I’m saying it why not change it so someone who knows about the situation and doesn’t take the time to compare doesn’t get the wrong idea?
Dude… they have left Classic Era servers for nearly three months, in an unplayable state. Pretty sure they are just holding Blizz together with chicken wire and duct tape, at this point. I am sure they do not have the resources to come anywhere near expectations… sad times…
it’s literally just changing the line of code that dictates what the dialogue says to say something different. They changed the whole NPC. more work went into changing that NPC that it would have to make them say something different.
Well then, why not take it even further? The flavor text on Nostro’s (formerly Foror’s) Compendium of Dragon Slaying hasn’t been changed either.
“Several pages are blank.”
You could insinuate that this is part of a cover-up conspiracy if you tried hard enough as well. They’re scrubbing his name from the game, that’s enough.
while this may be true that’s not the subject of this post. I am only posting what I seen and my opinion on said issue. I’m not nitpicking everything wrong with everything else, here.
seeing the state of retail, I agree. Even in classic Midsummer’s festival was/is bugged and I’m a victim of that (A thief’s reward quest) I am becoming increasingly unhappy with the sad state of the game and blizzard as a whole. been that way for a while. Classic was and is my last hope for some change, but it’s the same old stuff with an old twist. But hey… what am I. I’m just a customer. right? they don’t need me. lol
The guy was fired and his name is being scrubbed from the game. Not as meaningless as people think. It may be a small change, but behind it means more than actual face value.
I have played WoW for 16 years and had no idea until recently that that NPC was more than just some regular NPC. I bet a lot of people are like me. This change brings more attention to that person than if they had just left it alone. It’s stupid.
Maybe. but imagine keeping the NPC as it was after all these things came to light. The situation was known and reported on long before the change was announced or even implemented. Imagine knowing of the situation and taking notice and going “Huh… why is that guy’s name still in game after everything he did…”
Maybe you wouldn’t have noticed or paid no mind to it… but some may have and likely would have. If it means nothing or little to you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t or won’t mean much to anyone else.
They’re simply removing a stain on the game, one of which is very front-facing as they’re a named NPC in front of SW. They took the time to do that, why not be thorough with it and give them a new dialogue that can’t be misinterpreted as ill intentions?
