FFXIV Dev Discusses WoW:

While that is true, WoW can stay alive like Everquest. Have a moderate fanbase that will always be around and keep the toxicity in this community instead of bleeding out to true MMORPGs with better community substance.

On top of that most of the endless amounts of content they do add for current patches no one even wants to do because it’s just another system or grind

Ff14 and WoW is deff
Quality vs Quantity

This is exactly what I think , if you don’t like it, just quit, no need to emphasis “wow suck, FF14 is the best” all the time, just leave us alone and stop spread out this unnecessary comment to everywhere, this is not a shame to play wow , don’t sound like FF14 is your saviour, for me , I really don’t care why you quit and how fun in another game ,

Lol well say , and all of them claim “ quit wow after played 15 years and finally find Jesus in first week FF14 “

I hope their having fun with the content that’s not raiding/dungeoning, and daily grinding.

Like they treat like FFXIV is also an Animal Crossing game or something.

I mean… Endwalker is going to have a Animal Crossing New Leaf-style island.

Yoshi-P is a god among game producers.

He’s like Eiji Aonuma, Producer for the Legend of Zelda™ series.

But its boring content.

To you.

To other people, animal crossing is awesome.

edit: This is one of the major differences in FF14 to WoW. they don’t try to make only 2-3 types of content and to force you to do all of them to progress in any of them. They make a buffet of content that’s not related to each other and you serve yourself what you want to eat.

Also, they let content exist on its own terms. WoW sacrifices the potential of any additional veins of content they introduce by tying them into the loot treadmill. Warfronts had so much potential as their own system… but they twisted everyone’s arm into doing it weekly, so they compromised that vision. Same for Horrific Visions. Same for Torghast.

These would be some of the best received content in the game - perhaps evergreen, at that - if they weren’t tied into endgame player progression.

Yet the WoW community is being continuously harassed about FF14 by streamers, forum posts, etc. It’s like politics. The craps being shoved in our face. It only happens outside the game because ingame everyone is too busy having fun.

But will Animal Crossing island still be relevant once it becomes outdated in the next content updates?

I think Yoshi is the difference between a Designer who got into it because its a job; and a Designer who got into it because he loves games.

The humility is reflective of his passion for games - He is not a slavish devotee to 1 company - nor are most gamers. He plays the games he likes and appreciates when a game does well…

Versus the smug

“What don’t you guys have phones?”

Yes. That’s like, literally how FF14’s systems work.
Golden Saucer never stops being Golden Saucer-y.
The Island will always be animal cross-y.
Fishing trips are still fishing trips, regardless of the patch.
It’s not like you’re getting ilv from these. They are just going to be their own fun thing you do if you find it fun.

This is because most are convinced that, with the way things are now done in an older game like WoW (keep cost down to maintain profit in a shrinking revenue environment), there is a zero-sum aspect to this: stuff one group wants comes at the expense of stuff the other group wants. It isn’t “both/and”, because the costs won’t support that. And players know that this is how Blizzard thinks, because in the past they have expressly said things like “housing will cost you a raid tier” … so it’s zero-sum.

i would wager at this point it’s only happening because of folks like you on these forums reacting so strongly to it. the trolls found a weak spot so they’re going to abuse it until it gets boring for them

I absolutely never understood why the WoW devs put everything in the attic, for lack of a better term, and funnel us into such limited content just for the sake of playing with the new toys.

I mean, I know I can go back and run some old stuff for novelty things, but those really haven’t had anything added to them to make them lasting content. I absolutely love how FFXIV handles their world.

But I like how WoW plays better. If WoW could open up the game a little more like FFXIV did, I’d be a happy person.

I get that and it sucks. What I’m hoping happens is that Blizz realizes that the things that draw one player base are not the same that draws others. So while the costs may double so to will the profits.

But then I guess looking at Blizz’s history does show a different story.

I dont think the WoW community would accept it.

And grinding borrowed power endlessly is super engaging
