Problem is dark knight exists…aka giant 2 handed swords.
Yeah but dark knight is slow and a tank and it’s like an ornate old style great sword vs a futuristic buster sword slab of metal fashioned into a sword.
I don’t see it as a problem, and if you look at the melee dps it is a missing niche. Samurai is not a heavy feeling class, the abilities feel SHARP and meaningful, but there is not weight behind the attacks.
Think of cloud strife’s agility and aesthetic. Dark knights are heavy armor ornate old fantasy style job, while soldier is the modern side of final fantasy’s universe.
They would also have a completely different posture and animations and the abilities could have a mako blue theme instead of crimson red/black theme.
I feel like MCH has one of the least forgiving rotations if any spec in any MMO I’ve played, though.
It might also be ping dependent as well…
I really didn’t get the Necromancer hints… but man, how I wish is was true!
Been discussing it with my friends yesterday and today…
I’m happy with my Red Mage… but Necromancer would just be a dream come true… that Class always been my RPGMMO sweet spot!
FF Necromances were always an unique and fun odd class in the series… makes me wonder if they add it how they will implement it.
I will not lie, if WoW announces a DH 3rd spec or a new class like necromancer or Hero Classes like Lich using those awesome looking models The House of Ritual use for their Liches NPCs… I’m so staying sub even if I have to pay for FF14 to play with my friends… god I’ll be so torn if that happens! AAAAaaa
I just love how WoW takes establish fantasy concepts and turn it into something kind of unique… Classes or Jobs included!
We will have to see… as we get more reveals I guess. Very exited for both to be honest and the waiting or suspense is killing! EEEEEE!
i mean the devs of it even kept hinting at necromancers cuz its the most popular wanted class in both games
OMGOMGOMG!!! I’m gonna die of happiness if I see this…omg!!! AAAAaaa
TY! I’m so exited!!!
yeah check our the vod of yesterdays livestream
Should we also “pray” that they get homogenized as much as XIVs?
- Single-target filler damage spell you’ll spend most of your time spamming.
- Single-target DoT you’ll reapply every 30 seconds.
- Single-target MP-efficient healing spell you’ll never use.
- Single-target burst heal you rarely ever use.
- AoE direct heal you’ll rarely use.
- AoE direct + HoT heal you’ll rarely use.
- Single-target offensive resource spender.
- Single-target curative resource spender.
- AoE healing CD.
- Single-target healing CD.
- Raid mitigation CD.
- Single-target heal over time.
- AoE heal over time.
- Self-empowerment CD.
Now… which healer is it? One of the those points might even give it away. (Or, those are all shared by every healer, along with the majority of their playflow.)
Don’t get me wrong, there’s been some real highs for XIV jobs (ad hoc Samurai both in Stormblood and now, and high Skill Speed Monk late-Stormblood had fantastic playflows, and plenty others have had serious merits going for them), but the (re)design trends over the few expansions have been mixed at best.
It’s kind of amazing to think about how much more broadly (and deeply, for that matter) attractive the game could be if they had dynamic and stepped animations, rather than fixed ones, such that movement in a given direction mid-animation would actually step and adjust your swing accordingly, rather than just glide about.
That’s admittedly a high ask technologically, though, especially for a team that for months found it easier to just release entire new two-handed version of weapons desired for glamour (transmog) than adjust the code so a one-handed weapon could be glamoured to a two-hander as per the actual community request (all this despite shields no longer being made for casters at the time).
Heck, even just making the VFX less gaudy so one can actually see the boss or enemy in question without having to turn off most VFX would be quite the boon…
Who cares. FF14 just like WoW homogenized its Classes long ago. Itll just be the same thing with a new coat of paint. Its fluff, not an actual proper new Class.
WoW is the same thing, who cares if we get a new Class. Oh, let me guess, it’ll be a Builder Spender concept that feels like every DPS in the game with some minor fluff? Oh wow, super pog, super amazing for sure, for sure.
Whole genres ran by the absolute most boring, lamest people in the industry at this point. Gone are the days of true passion in design with uniqueness in Classes. Gone are the days of an MMO actually being a fun place to get lost in, no its now just a long list of chores to do. No exploration, no wondering, no getting lost or randomly meeting people in the world. Id say none of these “MMOs” are even “MMOs”, more like anti social lobby concepts parading as an MMO, but are actually just MMO lites for toddlers and anti gamers.
Yeah cause WoW sure doesn’t have a pay for character boost feature that allows you to skip content. Also if WoW had a story and expansions that kept all the content you initially paid for I am sure they would have that feature. WoW is the only mmo I have played that takes content away.
Blm is the most frustrating because of eno-chan and movement.
It’s the one job where when learning fights you can for sure expect your damage to be completely worthless.
At least healing in wow is interesting.
Lol, let me just spam cure
Healing 14 is fun because you are supposed to DPS
Although it’s less fun now that most healing specs’ DPS toolkits were pruned
dpsing as a healer in ff14 is even worse than dpsing as a healer in wow
That’s because in WoW, you have classes with really fun and interactive (and different) play styles.
Restoration Shaman are amazingly fun to play since they basically have most of the Elemental toolkit, and even Holy Paladin is kind of fun (if not a bit frustrating with mana).
As I said, 14’s healers got the prune stick last expansion which sucked.
But they aren’t casting heals a good portion of the time. I’m hoping the new Sage is more offense oriented.
resto druids jsut spam rejuv so
Yea but when it comes to the RP market WoW is beating FFXIV.
I bet this guy sold his AMC stocks off by now
nope, no point in ever selling unless its 50k/share+
plus now aparently amazon gunna buy amc
