inb4 “you are a ff14 pleb, go back to play it”
I love both games, Immensely.
FF14 for the story
WOW for the endgame.
If you play both and enjoy both, I think we can agree. FF14’s soundtrack beats wow’s by a mile. WOW has some amazing music, my favorite being Lion’s Rest in stormwind. I remember the first time I heard it after watching Varian die, it had me crying.
I played wow since 2008, varian was my king and I was a loyal Alliance player, him and Vol’jins death hit me hard. I am heavily invested in both games. I enjoy them for what they are.
However, WOW’s story can’t be touched by FF14, I played since the beginning of FF14 when WOD was hailed as a failure, Heavensward and Shadowbringers had me crying because I became invested in the characters and the story.
If you think WOW has a better soundtrack than FF14, go listen to “To the Edge” FF14, and I think that will change your mind. I play both, and I’m a fan of both games. I just want to make that very clear.

Akshually, both are equally worthless.

FF14 is not for those who hates story in a game, FF14 plays a lot like a single player. WOW is just…it’s not worthless, Dragonflight was decent over all. It’s just the same ole boring formula, grind pvp, raids or mythic +s.

Speaking of pvp, do you really wanna go down this road? Why would you shoot yourself in the foot like this?

If I had to pick I’d probably pick WoW music, just because I don’t actually remember anything from the FF14 soundtrack.
That said if I were discussing the best video game tracks of all time, I doubt WoW would come up either.

well true, Breath of the Wild Zelda has some amazing music.
This post is meant to state my opinion and I’m sure i’m not alone in the fact that as someone who loves both games, FF14 to me has better music overall, though WOW has some fantastic music.

Both wow and FF14 would show up maybe in the 40something in the top 100 videogame soundtrack chart, and that’s being generous.

Disagree.
Two things have been consistently outstanding with WoW through each expansion: the Art and the Music.

I like story in a game, I just don’t like that style of storytelling in an MMO in particular. I’m a longtime fan of the single player Final Fantasies. When I’m playing an MMO though, I much prefer WoW’s style of questing, it feels more suited to an open world.

FFXIV’s soundtrack blows WoW’s out the water.
WoW’s music probly peaked around MoP but even then can’t hold a candle to 14.

I’m kinda jelly of ff’s boss music. The music in WoWs recent raids are so boring meanwhile you get stuff like this

WoW has good “atmospheric” music but FFXIV, that’ll get you pumped to take on bosses.

I don’t let a game’s amazing music distract me from a game’s real lack of quality (not saying that about either WoW or FF14: they are fun much of the time…just using this as a point to post some of my favorite music from a pretty bad game). The Waterworld game for SNES has this as the map-screen music…how is that for music vs game quality
Right up there with Pictionary and Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the NES (and other Tim Follin or Jeroen Tel soundtracks attached to bad games) or the ports of the original Mortal Kombat and Cutthroat Island to the Game Boy in the “games that don’t deserve their soundtracks” list.

Torghast wouldve been way more fun for me if the music was better. Its so boring and the last thing you want a “rogue like” mode to feel is slow and boring.
Gimme something like this
If you want me to focus on beating a timer, it’ll be way easier if the music is backing me up lol

Tim had no right going that hard for Pictionary lol

Wow has some great music, but I think FF14 does it better especially in the raids. To the Edge, Landslide, Return to Oblivion and all of UCOB are probably my favorites.
