Whoa! According to these forums, that’s objectifying males.
Lucky us. I only get naked when I’m visiting the shire. Rest of the time I’m hard at work.
I wonder which catalog they took that from.
This is my first time viewing FF’s store and I am horrified. I thought WoW was getting bad but this is just awful.
Oh you should see the 2B leggings from the NieR Automata raid they have. Straight up just changes the size of your butt.
That’s not what I’m complaining about, I’m talking about having all of these items bought with money instead of being earned.
Can you link the 2B leggings?
I could see how that might be a problem if you got naked.
The plus side is even though the store is quite big, the in game sets are insanely good too. You can play the whole time with never getting any of those store sets and still feel good because I dunno if I’ve actually ever seen a bad set in that game over the years of my on and off play.
Their mog system is just built different in terms of visuals.
Nah, the store would have to go before I even consider playing or switching over.
In Square Defense, most of the glamour transmog items that are in their store can be or was obtainable in the game at some point. There are some items that aren’t.
On the left is with having 2B leggings on and on the right is default. Granted, I understand why they did this because ya know… Yoko Taro and his degenerate thoughts, but yea.
I find it funny you say this when you can straight up buy gold on the WoW store. Sure, it’s got an extra step and someone has to buy the token with gold for you to get your money, but it’s still buying in-game currency with cash, just with an extra step.
Nobody’s saying FFXIV’s cash store is some gift to humanity, because it has its issues too, like most cash stores… But you can’t pay to win there.
Better quit WoW then, I guess.
That would obviously be your decision, but as wow falls further and further from grace you better believe their store system is fixing for an overhaul. I dunno if we will ever get another big mmo style game that won’t have stores in place for additional revenue. It’s just too good of business to pass up.
Wow has done a great job of keeping the store bare, but tbh with the wow token they have very little reason to invest in more items as it’s the king of their sales. I wouldn’t let a decently sized cosmetic shop sway your judgment that hard as if wow didn’t love recolors so much they would’ve done the same by now I think.
The fact that we don’t even have a dye system is tragic as so many cool sets could be made if they let us recolor our armor. The combinations of colors and gear we have currently in wow would have us set for years.
When people that play FF14 are like. OMG screw Blizzard and their store. I am like. FF14’s store is really no better. They sell more transmog stuff than what Blizzard has and sells dances and hair styles while Blizzard is selling mounts, pets and WoW Tokens. FF14 does have it’s problems with people buying gil ((Their currency)) much like WoW had their problems with people buying gold for their game, but Blizzard made the WoW Tokens to make some money on the side, but also try and combat those gold sellers and telling people to instead of giving your money to a random website that is most likely going to steal your credit card, buy it legit through us without the that risk.
Like I said, nobody’s saying FFXIV’s cash store is some gift to humanity. It’s a store where you pay for in-game stuff with cash. The difference is, you can’t pay Square Enix to “win”.
The difference is, Blizzard decided to use that as a way to make even more money, where Square has not.
Blizzard didn’t really do it as a way to keep people safe from scams. They did it to make money. Period.
Blizzard is not a benevolent overlord here; this was not done to keep people safe, or prevent people from getting scammed. It was straight up just business decisions at the expense of the health of the game’s economy.
WoW went all puritan on us years ago, I’m not sure why but at some point they decided they did not want to show too much skin. I’m not even interested in sexy outfits, but I don’t like walking around as though I am wearing a sleeping bag though.
As for the store, I wish subscription based games would stop using them but that just seems to be the default now. If people are willing to spend the money then the companies are all too quick to make the accommodations.
Remember when the WoW community forums were all “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!” I think WoW went with that, and so did every other company that had customers screaming the same thing.
I’m surprised the subscription rates have not increased, due to all of the people saying we should be paying over $20 a month now due to inflation. It is really unnerving how much some people want to pay more for things now.
I mean I don’t care if people use shop cosmetics. Because they aren’t buying achievement based rewards with real money.
If you want to wear your faerie dragon set or whatever, go ahead. I would be embarrassed to show that off.
But when people are buying elite PvP sets with tokens from arena carries it cheapens the entire game. There is no comparison. WoW’s shop is way, way worse.
The majority of the stuff in the store is seasonal event items that were obtainable in game but are not anymore.
Also no matter how much stuff is in the FF14 store, WoW’s store will always be infinitely worse since you can buy currency.
Oh, and don’t forget the TBC Classic mount fiasco.
Could you imagine a Male Blood Elf in that outfit… uh… yea… me neither.
