There is none, lol. I read a post in general where someone stated that engrish turned him off. I would truly love it if there was engrish, but sadly I haven’t encountered it yet. I’m only level 50, so maybe there’s still hope?
Can you tell me your pros and cons to FF Online? (I assume this is the one you’re playing) and what are your thoughts on GW2?
I’m not the OP, but here’s my personal comparisons between XIV and WoW:
FFXIV
–Pros: Awesome story, a nice cohesive story that flows from one expansion into another, and the passage of time does not mean you will miss out on things, a new player today won’t miss any story, unlike limited-time events in WoW
–Better community, less toxicity. The lack of opposing factions means there’s less reason for people to take sides against one another and just be hostile in general.
–One Character Does All: No need to make a ton of characters that you gotta do all the unlocking and junk on, one character can be all classes, both battle and crafting. Only reason you need to make more than one character is for different races/datacenters.
–Way less Reputation Grinding, and less grinding in general: You can enjoy other games alongside XIV if you want. XIV doesn’t want to gobble up all of your time, and it encourages you to take short breaks from the game, so that it is nice and fresh when you return. But yet if you want to play it more, you can do that too. There’s a lot of optional content that you are not forced to do.
–No waiting 9 months+ to fly in an expansion. You unlock flying by doing quests and visiting 10 locations in each map (you’re given a compass to help you find these).
–Dungeons are way more fun an interesting, and it doesn’t take as long to find one.
–Less Out-of-Dungeon Finder Content, in XIV only Savage Raids are not in the Dungeon Finder. Everything else uses the Dungeon Finder, and they don’t lock entire dungeons out of the DF unlike WoW.
–Honest-to-God Player Housing. Yes you can buy a house, build a house, and fully customize its interior, down to each and every little piece of furniture.
–Better, more detailed graphics.
–Better music tracks.
Cons:
–Slightly slower combat, though this improves near the end of the game depending on class.
–Lack of PvP? I don’t consider this a con, but some people do. There is PvP but a lot of people simply don’t care because the PvE is rather nice.

EDIT: In response to the OP:
There are some bits of dialogue that could be considered “Engrish”, but that’s only to reflect accents and speech patterns in dialogue. But no, the game is localized amazingly well, probably the best localization of any foreign game, ever. They go to great lengths to preserve the spirit of the work, while also making sure that there are plenty of jokes, puns, pop culture references, etc that just wouldn’t work across the language barrier, so they have to change a Lot of stuff to get the puns to work. It’s just amazing work all-around.
The only reason I could think of why people would call it “Engrish” is because it is too clean, and said people are used to native-English games that break all kinds of grammar rules, maybe?
Thank you so much for taking the time to go over all of this. I assume FFXIV is your jam! The ONLY issue I have with FFXIV is all of the text box chatter. Anyway of getting past all of this? I am not a lore player. I only care about lore when a character seems interesting to me.
Unfortunately, no.
FFXIV is a story/lore-heavy game. If you don’t like story or lore, then FFXIV is probably not really aimed at you.
As for it being “my jam”, I will have to admit I enjoy the game quite a bit. Nowhere in this am I trying to say which is better between it and WoW as I play both games.
I do, however, have to realize certain things about the two different games rather than sugarcoat everything.
Whoever said FFXIV had any sort of “Engrish” in it either doesn’t know what that means or is talking completely out of their a–.
