Few hunter questions

Do you gotta farm a pet? which pet is best for 3v3…? or do you need multiple pets? i’ve never played hunter, but thinking about leveling one…Also how long does this process take to get the proper pet/pets? ty guys

also wh ich is best stat for BM and MM for 3v3? Haste/vers i think for BM, what about MM?

There are no extensive farm requirements for pets. However, if you want super rare pets such as King Krush and Loque I would get them in chromie time war mode while leveling. Typically between 40-47 for the epic flight.

Best pet for 3s is Cunning + mortal strike against most comps. This is raptor, hyena or rodent. Raptors can be undead too so most people use those.

For PvE and BM, use ferocity while in the open world and tenacity in group content. If lust is needed it’s OK to still run Ferocity.

For MM PvE use no pet, or ferocity for lust. This pet can be dismissed post-lust.

For SV use ferocity everywhere in PvE.

Best tanking pets are Scalehide 1-59 and Clefthoof at 60. If not BM, Scalehide all the way.

Best stats are subject to change in 9.2 (BM scaling back on crit for example due to set bonus) so I’ll hold on that one for now.

Ty so much!! if i tame a pet, does it level up automatically, or do i gotta level it up like leveling a character? ty

Pet level is consistent with your own so no need to worry about those.

I personally carry 3 pets for pvp

Raptor (Cunning mortal strike)
Undead Raptor
King Krush/ any devilsaur but King Krush is the greatest pet in the game (ferocity mortal strike against mages)
Non-BM ferocity mortal strike include scorpids and wasps I believe? I’m sure on the scorpids.

You can have 5 pets total and the last 2 depend on the spec. For BM for example I’d also have a scalehide/clefthoof and spirit beast on hand for open world and group content respectively.

Check out these web sites:

Some pets have extra special taming requirements. Mechanical pets are tamable by default by Mechagnomes, gnomes and goblins and everyone else has to buy a special tome to learn how. Devilsaurs are tamable by Zan Trolls and everyone else needs to farm mobs for a special tome drop. There are a few others that require special learning tomes.

The most important pets are tamable by everyone though. All pets do the same damage, some have extra abilities which make some pets more desirable than others, especially for pvp.

Don’t worry OP there are no race restrictions when it comes to the beautiful and magnificent King Krush

Btw, does it matter which pet i get per school of skill? or are they all the same/dont matter?

for example, there’s tons of different raptors… do i need a specific one, or are any of them the same/good? ty again for your advice

All raptors do the same thing as other raptors and so on.

The ONLY differences I can think of here are undead pets and certain taming restrictions such as cloud serpents being in the serpent family but only initially being tameable by Pandaren

Thanks! i see where to get reban, the undead raptor…

also is stampede still a thing for BM hunters? and if so, how many pets do i need for it? 3 or 5?

It’s still in the game but as a level 45 talent. BM currently chooses Stomp in that row right now instead.

This may change later on but I believe Stomp is still best for the start of 9.2.

Ah ok ty, if it changes what’s best, how many pets for it? stampede? 3 or 5?

I’m not sure in SL as I have never used it but last I can remember it uses random animals now, leaving no requirement but also being lame

ah so you don’t need to tame pets for it?

If it’s how I remember it then no, but someone may want to correct me if I’m wrong on that one

My bad. dinosaurs of a different color.

You don’t need to tame pets for Stampede but it will use pets from your stable, I believe. You can have a stable full of pets but only 5 options with you at any time.

Most importantly, there are so many different kinds so you can match them to your Transmog!

Petopia is the place to go. There is so much good information there. I usually have a pet if each spec with me plus a Spirit beast as BM and then an empty slot if I want to take something I see.

I don’t PVP in Arena so I’ll leave that to the experts.

Any funny thing, I was just in the Warlock forums a few days ago and got some awesome advice myself.

why spirit beast? what does it do? ty for heads up!!

also which spirit beast is best?

All spirit beasts are the same in function but appearance and challenge of taming or rarity may matter to some.

The can give you a small heal that used to be better but they can also give a damage absorb periodically. Only BM can use them.

Basically pets spec into Tenacity or Ferocity or Cunning. All pets in each group are similar with some individual pet families having special skills. Scalehide has a leech that help both the pet and Hunter with survivability, so I usually use that for soloing.

Petopia will list everything to make it easier. There is a ton of info.
