Festering Scythe should ready itself out of combat

Let the first festering strike of an encounter just be a scythe with any time you drop combat it activates.

Right now festering scythe is in a weird place where it is better to just stop attacking with it at end of pulls and it just feels bad.

While I think some people’s ideas of it replacing festering strike would be cool, I think this would do the same thing to reduce tension and annoying gameplay as well as ACTUALLY give unholy a faster start on aoe pulls.

Festering scythe just feeklls bad. It almost needs to be its own button like frostscythe is or be a passive that automatically applies wounds to nearby targets.
I dont want ANOTHER button for unholy.

So making festering strike become festering scythe when the talent is selected and tune it to deal reduced or apply 1-2 wounds to x number of targets

Yeah forget this whole “pop 20 wounds” thing, just make it a Festering Strike replacement.

I like that they’re trying. But yeah a “if not in combat for x seconds” then it turns into festering scythe and then for every 20 wounds after that. but definitely a between combat refresh seems like a good idea to add on.

Or hell, if they insist, have it turn into Festering Scythe every X seconds and popping wounds reduces the cooldown of the effect.

As it currently is set, Unholy will very likely completely ignore Festering Scythe. Sucks because it’s a neat idea, but it’s just not incredibly practical with where Unholy’s focus currently sits, especially if you’re playing San’layn.

I agree that it doesn’t play well and that having an extra button is not necessary. I want to see the following changes:

  1. Festering Scythe talent changes Festering Strike to a physical scythe attack that applies 2-3 wounds to X targets.
  2. With every 20 wounds spent, Festering Scythe becomes a shadow attack and its damage is increased by X%. Maybe also increases the number of wounds applied.
  3. Swap Festering Scythe’s position with Imp FS in the talent tree.
  4. Remove or repurpose Vile Contagion
