It probably was a bit of an OP change. Still pretty early to tell for sure though.
As for warriors… I think they will tweak fury if you guys underperformed during the next phase. That’s when you guys get your ArP gear that should scale pretty well.
If it doesn’t then it should be addressed and I expect it will.
You go to warcraft logs, filter by 1 day (and next week we can do by 1 week) to see only the buffed logs, and then remove hodir and vezax. Boom, ferals now #2 right on the heels of assassination rogues but with the ability to brez, innervate, ot, crit buff, and bleed buff. Theyre busted beyond belief now and will keep scaling to #1 according to sims.
aggrend said warriors got good in Ulduar w/ ilvl buff
he was wrong
he didnt do the math
warriors scaled in parallel with other classes and even assassination rogues got more dps out of ulduar, and they were already at the #1 spot going in
the scaling copium is a myth, warriors are undertuned for a class with no raid utility
going into ICC when everything is undead and they got a great set bonus, ppl expected ulduar to not be great. As its looking now, ret will beat warrior in ICC with the same gear on and feral will beat everyone but a lot.
Aggrend said that in ulduar warriors would shoot up with the ilvl buff but he was wrong. The math isnt there. Assassination rogues, the phase 1 #1 class, got more dps out of ulduar than fury warriors did. Fury has been scaling in parallel with everyone and there will be no miracle for them in ICC.
I think the buff to ret was perfectly balanced.
It boasted you guys up to c-tier and you still have the extra utility to compensate for not being s-tier.
The feral buff seems to have been a bit of an overkill but we’ll see how it looks over the next couple of weeks.
Folks were saying rets would be blowing every other dps class out of the water (mostly disgruntled furies were saying that) but the logs show that’s nowhere near the case.
We should wait and see how the ferals turn out before declaring them OPed which some (mostly furies again) are claiming.
Feral is fine right now, yes it’s damage it now competitive at the top instead of scraping the bottom but that’s different than feral dps being broken.
If the scaling becomes an issue, which at this point is impossible to know, then it will be adjusted at that point.
I’m not the one complaining… I’m actually happy for the rets and ferals and don’t mind if they improved their dps output since it helps the entire raid out.
I’m a frost DK so my dps is just high b-tier and I’m fine with that. It’s a fun spec to play.
pro tip, utility matters immensely for raids and has long been a part of all balancing decisions
if 2 classes to the same dps, but if one class has 0 utility and another can raise the dead in combat, restore mana bars, bring very strong buffs and debuffs, then it incentivizes only bringing the latter class
there are entire tools on WOWhead and sim websites built around calculating utility. Its critical. Utility is so strong that even if you removed 20% of a ret’s dps theyd still get taken to raid because utility is good.
Blizzard cant make everyone do exactly the same dps. Someone is always in last place. Utility classes get those spots because that way theyre still brought to raid. Ideally its a 5-10% gap.
Unfortunately in WOTLK its like a 30+% gap, and some of the classes at the bottom, like warrior, bring almost 0 utility, so therefore it becomes optimal to bring 0 to your raid.
imagine being oblivious what elevating a high utility spec like feral to being basically tied for #1 dps spot on non-hodir style fights and sims showing it massively ahead in ICC can do do the game
what will guilds do? Take a feral, which does assassination level damage but can also battle rez, innervate, ot quickly and easily, bleed buff, and crit buff, or bring a warrior that can do none of that, has basically 0 utility, and does 20%+ less dps? lmao
using your logic, should blizzard just change titangs grip to read “does 10% more dmg” instead of “10% less” and then I can tell you to quit crying about it when it does too much?
