I main Guardian (since the dawn of time) but am playing with feral this go around. Stats are confusing. Everything says to focus crit/mastery, but then all the highest ranked ferals seem to be vers/haste with drought.
I’m not going to be raiding as feral, just doing mythic dungeons here and there. What legendary works best for you all? Apex seems to be the less stressful, but just wondered your thoughts. I really like the complexity, but it’s easy to get overwhelmed if I can’t stick to a target. That’s why Circle doesn’t win for me. I feel like I’m failing if I can’t keep my bleeds up.
Those are your Ferals who are also high up in PvP and logged out in PvP.
Crit/Mastery for PvE
Depends on your Covenant. If NF, Celestial Spirits is your go to. I have it, but I prefer my Apex play style.
I use Celestial Spirits for Tyrannical weeks and Apex for Fortified weeks

The way I’ve been running is mastery / crit, and once I hit around 30% crit (isn’t too hard) I started working on verse. Celestial spirits is definitely my goto, after crafting it I’m not sure I could go without it. I’m not sure what next patch will feel like with spirits being on my belt and having a second lego, but I imagine I’ll probably run circle for fortified and apex for tyranical. I’ve only been running between 16-18 here lately so I imagine things might change a bit higher.

In current content, Celestial Sprits is your leggo choice raid and M+. The jury is still out for 9.2 but for M+, likely it will be Apex or possibly Circle. For raid, it might depend on the raid encounter (single target vs AOE) as it could be Drought or Frenzy or maybe something else.
Generally the Crit cap for Ferals is ~40% so you see Ferals taking more Verse and Haste especially for single target in raids.

Is convoke that much better than all the other legendaries?
Perhaps I do it wrong, but I get better/more consistent pulls with Apex. Could just be familiarity, but even using Convoke at the beginning of big pulls for that major mastery boost going into PW spams, Apex always seems to pull ahead for me. Fun when you can push your Mastery over 100% with affix bonuses
I didn’t either. 39/67 for me. But I do recall the stat weight changes at the beginning of SL saying that anything over 30% is going to receive increased DR.
What kind of dps do you pull? On big packs i can get up to 7-11K ish. On bosses I’m always sitting at around 5K as average. Feels bad when im 248 ilvl and 220 ilvl dps are doing better than me.
I use a feral addon to track bleeds. On packs ill open with shred, thrash, swipe, roar, the primal wrath. AOE isn’t a problem. My boss dps is meh at best. again 220 ilvl can out dps me… seems like the side project is over.
I’ve tried a bunch of different legos, but then if we are forced to go night fae… it’s dumb. so so dumb.
Then you see people complaining about the 9.2 kyrian lego… why? What every druid is supposed to be Night Fae?
Big packs I’ve spiked to 20k, depending on the group I’m with. Boss fights I’m usually between about 7-10k depending on how lucky I get with my crits.
Yeah…I was doing that kind of dps at 220 too, so you’re definitely doing something wrong. I’m at 239ish right now and I’m doing 20k+ on large packs and long tyrannical boss fights I usually sit around 5-6k on average pending on the fight. I’m not entirely sure what you’re doing (it could just be the covenant choice) but try using something like Hekili or something until you get the rotation down. Feral has been known for years for having one of the more complex rotations and it’s REALLY evident when watching a feral that knows how to feral and one who is just trying it out.
Kyrian is good for guardian and resto, and looking at some of the new changes for 9.2, it’s not looking good. As for all druids using night fae, right now that’s only true for feral. Balance went Venthyr, Guardian is mixed between fae and Kyrian, same story with Resto. As for Spirits versus Apex ( @Grizzle on this point ), Apex is going to be better for sustained damage, Spirits is better for burst. Unfortunately for shadowlands as an expansion in general, burst has been king as in both raid and m+ there are focused burst windows versus pushing damage into a target. That’s why I’m curious if Apex will be the lego of choice for 9.2, although, I’m fairly sure that the tier set bonuses will impact your lego choice as well.

I found that vers overtook mastery after about 45% due to the DR, so may be worth trying to move some of that mastery to vers (assuming you’ve already got like 40-45% crit).

They kind of trade off as one or the other goes up. Keeping them even and ahead of Haste is a safe bet I’ve found.

So i calmed down, bit the bullet, and switched to Night Fae. I’m pulling 8-10K (using apex) on boss fights now (10-12 key range). Pulling about 15k on packs. It’s insane how one skill can make or break a class. I am not calilng for a nerf cuz that’s the only skill that makes us viable!

I’m not sure about the crit cap. I dropped down to 30% crit, 45% mastery, and added a bunch of vers and haste. Rotation felt clunky, like i wasn’t doing enough crits to keep the extra combo points rolling in. Sitting at 42% crit and 56% (around) mastery and it feels good. Rarely out of energy.
I do feel like Circle could come out on top because it’s more reliable damage added to packs and bosses. Some boss fights and packs Apex doesn’t proc at all.
If that’s what you’re hitting now, then I’d definitely say it’s the covenant choice. You’ll see even higher numbers once you start using spirits, but I wouldn’t bother crafting it now as you essentially get it for free next patch.
Feral has basically always felt a little clunky outside of berserk, apex helps with that a little bit by giving you something to do while you pool energy for bites and I imagine with the 2pc tier set it’ll be even better next patch as we’ll be berserking every other pack.

That’s what I’m currently looking like. I took the majority of this patch off and just came back about a month ago so I’m still working on gearing, but you can see kinda where my stats are. It feels about like a sweet spot and any less the spec kinda falls apart. With you having the extra secondaries from the higher ilvl, I’m hoping you would shoot higher.
