Feral Kitty DPS

Really? I don’t know much on BiS stuff in general, I do know the druid helm stuff though. What’s gear competition like for a feral in the raid itself?

It’s easier to gear as feral… You don’t need a helm, and you don’t need a weapon…but it’s not like you don’t compete at all for gear with rogues, cause you do on some.

But you can make the devilsaur set yourself.

Pre-Raid BiS is much easier for druid than most classes

Bro play what you want, you can dps in any dps spec you want. Some guild will take you. Not everyone follows metas etc. You can clear content just as fine.

Yeah, interesting.

My three primary main classes are Hunter, Paladin and Druid. Been debating on trying Feral up into raiding etc.

Yea, like some others have said, it just depends on the guild. Some people are elitiest jerks that want nothing but Mage/War/Rogues, others aren’t.

40 spots to fill isn’t easy sometimes, you’ll find a group.

Aye. I didn’t raid in Vanilla so am looking forward to trying it on both hunter and maybe druid. Thanks for the info though. Paladin I am a little iffy it will depend, especially if Theloras stuff goes well.

Hybrid druid can be effective in the hands of a good and determined player.

It’s simultaneously an upside and a downside playing a hybrid spec.
It can heal, dps and tank with proper gear but it obviously compromises on all of the roles to a dedicated one.
But it can fill any of them when needed. Then again the player must know how to play 3 roles effectively and know all the encounters from all three role perspectives and have the consumables for all three roles.

So it’s massively more work and thus requires huge chunks of time to prepare.
But there is a certain satisfaction to be able to flex into any role and such players are very handy to have around.
Unless the guild is über hardcore and does not have to worry about filling raidroles with what they have because their dedicated nolifers are always there.

It’s very bad until the weapons are released. Would make it as a alt when AQ is out.

I was including power shifting.
It is not the cure all that people think.
It really helps but you are still behind in gear, you get no procs from weapons… there are severe limitations.
Do I think it is worth doing? YES… will the average player do the work? NOPE…

Reading this thread just makes me appreciate how well Vanilla was designed. Sometimes less is more, and players having to get creative and think outside of the box to accomplish things is such a great hallmark of an rpg.

Anyway, play what you enjoy. Unless you’re in some world-first cutting edge guild it doesn’t matter.

Amazing how the same doesn’t work for AV. Shouldn’t this person be taking the path of least resistance according to how you think people will play in AV?

Even then it’s not worth it, the AQ weapon only gives enough FAP to bring it up to par with maybe a 1 handed blue. So you’re still extremely far behind what everyone else has.

Feral druids to viable dps, it’s an option if you want to play it, wolfs head helm, powershifting, crowd pummelers, and other nifty tricks can push you into viability, but it’s in the same boat as ret, viable, but you need to grind a ton for lower middle of the pack results.

Druids make better tanks or healers, but feral is okay if you minmax it to hell and back.

He is referring to the level 40 helmet (wolfshead helm) which gives you 20 energy every time you shift.

Time to eat crow Ziryus, it’s not getting nerfed and it’s the last helm that any feral cat build will ever need.

I know you loath the existence of this item and feel that it’s a cheese way to play, but this is how its done.

You and ONLY YOU can choose to play badly Ziryus.

Wolfshead Helm
Binds when equipped

Head Leather

109 Armor
+10 Spirit
Durability 60 / 60
Classes: Druid
Requires Level 40

Equip: [When shapeshifting into Cat form the Druid gains 20 energy, when shapeshifting into Bear form the Druid gains 5 rage.]

This in addition to the crowd pummeler will give you “Rogue like” DPS.

Except it won’t.

You tell that to the feral druids who did it in Vanilla and did it well… Sorry you did not figure it out back then, but just because you did use that basic concept does not mean that other’s did not.

A max geared druid being barely able to stay on par with a rogue in blues is not doing it well.

If you can get the rotation down with the powershifting and the manual crowd pummler+wolfshead helm you’ll do close enough dps that raids will want you, especially when you bring innervate/brez on top of that.
There will be naysayers no matter how much you prove yourself because they refuse to accept any hybrid in any non-healer role but don’t listen to them. There isn’t a raid boss out there that bringing a hybrid to will fail the raid. They’ll try and use bosses like Vael as an example but they forget to mention how their other dps was afk or dead due to not dealing with mechanics properly.

Still You should also work on a tank and/or healer set. You can do both in a feral dps spec. That will make you even more desirable and will make it easier to do things like 5mans.

Rogues in blues do not do a whole lot of damage… You’re sorely mistaken about druid DPS, it can be very good if the player is using the full potential of the class and gear options out there.
