Every time I que into a key, no matter if it’s a 6 or a 2, they type “lol feral” then kick me. This has happened in over 10 keys, what can I do to get into a keys?
Better to play with a guild group or just make your own groups - once you have the Rio score to back you up it shouldn’t be an issue. Feral if done well can pull fine numbers in keys.
There’s a community perception that feral does bad in keys which isn’t the case.
A lot of people will only invite meta classes/specs because that is what they’re taught when watching MDI / reading posts / watching videos about M+.
Join an all druid guild.
I’ve had 3 ferals in my keys before that way. Wicked fun!
3 boomkins made my computer feel old though.
Did a little research just to see what DPS looked like for players with similar raiderio scores / keys timed.
One of the top ferals has a number of low 20+ keys, one that was logged (HoA) had about 5.8-5.9k DPS overall. The balance druids I looked at had similar DPS, however at higher keys (like 20+) the more limiting factor is utility and balance druids have massive utility as well as better on demand burst AoE where as feral has some burst but more-so consistent damage.
I didn’t look into other specs but I’ve run with mages/hunters/warriors/rogues and plenty others and our overall DPS tends to be about the same or I’m ahead and have significantly more CC.
So I really don’t think it’s that people don’t want ferals necessarily, it’s that they want balance because of the utility/simply being a ranged class.
Edit: For anyone curious, if you want to see damage done in keys by various specs, lookup raiderio rankings by spec then go to warcraft logs and look up that specific player and navigate the page to see their M+ by damage. Pain in the butt however, much better way to understand performance versus looking at the “score”.
tell them you’re boomy and show up in balance spec and before the key starts swap feral
Sounds like you’re not having issues getting into groups, but having issues not getting kicked .
Ferals numbers are ok, a good feral can do decent damage.
The groups you were kicked from, did they already have melee?
Melee heavy groups are just cancer in SL. So if they invited you thinking you were ranged and then they already had 1 or 2 melee, it’s not going to go down that well.
Sanguine, spiteful, storming, quaking, pulling threat easier, 10x as many mechanics to worry about, target caps.
These are all reasons for the melee genocide.
We tried 4 ferals in a 5 druid group. Cat healz worked out quite well.
I have literally never been kicked with someone saying “lol feral” or some similar nonsense.
However, I also put Feral in my note when I apply for keys. Most people actually do read the notes, and the ones that don’t either don’t care, or have generally chosen to just roll with it.
I pugged much of my way up from small keys to big keys, did enough with guildies to get a +14 key, then just pugged KSM because once you have 14s and 15s everyone wants to join your group.
Feral is very good in keys, people just don’t realize that, and/or they think the MDI is the one true way.
Just wait till 9.1. Boomlin probably 404 at that stage and they’ll need to take you for battle Rez. Or we’ll go BFA and it’s heal or reroll.
You will need to be exceptional in order for people to accept you as a feral, and even then you will not get invited to groups and/or removed for being feral.
Been this way for over five years. Will continue until LotP is baseline (i.e., indefinitely).
lol i got declined cause apparently feral dont have brez? am like all druids have brez… the guy told me off and put me on ignore am like wth did i just witness
This perception seems to stick from expansion to expansion for awhile
If that’s true then the player base hasn’t changed in awhile. Are new players not interested in the content or is the game not attracting new players? Am I playing the game with long time players with outdated information or I’m surrounded by bots?
New players are less likely to be pushing keys and/or caring about comps - so old players.
Honest to god mate, I had your same issue so i stopped giving a care, joined as boomy and did the expected terrible dps because i dont know boomy until i somewhat learned the class, Sick of this whole “Ferals garbage” bs when i easily top dps in most keys and if people wana do that assumption then they can deal with my 216 boomy in pvp gear with a HOTW leggo.
Just be in boomie spec from when you join the group until they start the pull timer for the key. At about 7 seconds left on the pull timer, switch back to Feral. If they pull without a timer or you miss it, you can always zone out, respec and zone back in. At worst you lose a few seconds.
Of course if you’re not good enough at Feral, you’re going to be whined at. So far I haven’t had any issues, but hard to say if that’s because they didn’t care in the first place or just didn’t mention it after I switched.
Alternatively, just do your own key, which is what I did this week.
Honestly I just run with guild and friends. Its much more fun than pugging or trying to be sneaky anyways.
WoW is not a social game or an RPG.
It’s a lobby based MMO with a world minigame.
It lost it’s soul a long time ago and were playing the husk of something we used to love.
Feral is perfectly fine for M+, however the toxic community won’t let it participate because of a combination of stigma and min-maxing.
This would seem very odd in an MMORPG like FF14, or for WoW pre-WoD but its par for the course for Retail WoW now and has been the state of feral for many years now.
But that’s the rub, it doesn’t have to be. The players do this to themselves. Find a good guild, make friends, and clear all of the content you want. To a certain extent, people who choose to pug bring this on themselves. I have no problems getting groups on my feral, because I just ask in guild and we form a group. We also have mythic plus nights. Pugging and expecting other people to change is a no win situation.
Part of it have to do with streamers. When beta came out they right off the bat already trash a few class as bad, unplayable, horrible so when people watch these video they already have this in mind. Is like fury warrior they were bad in the beginning of SL since then they got 20% buff and damage is pretty good yet people still think they are Terrible.
