I will start with a hot flex first…
I have always played 3 classes in the game. Rogue, feral and mage are the 3 I have always gravitated towards. I started playing rogue in 2005 and switched to druid in 2007. Was fighting in these forums with clueless devs about giving innervate for all and enjoyed the talent tree reworks. The struggle was real. This created a good raid healer and pvp build that I enjoyed 1-29-21. I later discovered kitter DPS and switched over to the classic 14-32-5. Took a massive 10 year break after MoP and came back here and there over the rerelease of classic. Been back solid for SoD. Loving it!
Farming MCP and getting my Wolfs helm was fun for about a month and then it got stale. The play style was really janky and took a million macros and addons to feel fluid. Waiting on GCD and praying I got OOC procs didn’t feel like skillful or fun gameplay. I do agree that feral needs reduced shifting costs because we are a rogue without evasion/vanish/disarm. We have some of the worst defensives in the game and the only way to pvp is to go hybrid gear. Even then the we are just hot trash in pvp. Hoping this changes in the future and I become more than a 30 yard laser kitty that dies in 2 seconds.
About power shifting and pve dps. I feel that the classic iteration of feral dps is just not ideal for me. Also, having a level 40 crafted helmet being the ultimate BIS felt bad. I preferred the Wotlk version as it was more engaging and rewarding. The feral forms felt more smooth and less clunky. SoD on my feral has been kinda weak and disappointing but we are level 25 and I didnt expect a polished spec from the devs.
I would be happy if power shifting went away or they polish it up and made it more functional. Also please fix QoL issues. In catform I can skin an animal but cant eat? Silly.
Ah yes, Powershifting was the peak of d-tier performance.

Powershifting SUCKS and is only done because it is absolutely necessary to keep feral relevant on the dps charts.
Sorry you never raided in tbc, feral finally came into it’s own then. That’s when feral was at peak game play, the powershifting meta. And my feral will crap all over you on any toon you play.

No no, i’m sorry. I thought we were talking about Vanilla WoW, which is what SoD is built upon. Bringing up TBC is as irrelevant as me bringing up Feral’s performance in Dragonflight.
Are we talking about raiding or are we talking about PvP? I just want to make sure I get my ducks in a row for whatever path you choose to play the “big tough boy” routine on.

I would love to see feral not require powershifting personally. I think its a gimmicky playstyle.

This is such a weird take. You could play perfectly with BiS gear in Era and still be in the bottom 50% of the damage charts. Everyone who is for this power-shifting playstyle is acting like if you did it well you were somehow S-tier.
You were b-tier at best. Let Vanilla Feral die, kill it if you have to.

Disagree. It is jank because, imo, it goes completely against the class fantasy of Feral Druid.
