Feral Druid Weapons - Normalization

So based on the class info below:

“While Shapeshifted, the Druid’s melee auto attack DPS (Damage Per Second) while in Bear Form, Cat Form, or Dire Bear Form is now the same as the DPS of the Druid’s equipped weapon. But the speed of attack is changed to 1.0 or 2.5 seconds, depending on the form. Abilities that deal weapon damage likewise use these damage values.”

If i’m understanding this correctly the only value at all for ferals to look at on a weapon is the DPS value.

So if a weapon has 1 more dps it is for all intents and purposes it is 100% better.

Now the real question is does this scale ONLY off the weapon itself of the damage of the weapon after AP modifiers.

Like I know right now warrior deep wounds doesn’t take into effect ap scaling at all on the weapon damage and is only doing whats listed on the weapon and not the character sheet.

I think we need some clarity on this.

For cat yes, its only dps due to the 1.0 normalization, then the abilities themselves have the modifiers. In the case of claw, its 110% weapon damage (normalized to 1.0 unfortunately) plus a static value.

For bear you have to normalize the weapon to 2.5 speed, but it almost doesn’t matter since none of the abilities scale from weapon damage anyway and rage is normalized per swing.

Ah ok, I’m not super familiar with how feral scales its ability damage but if its just from raw AP mostly then it won’t matter.

Though the rage from damage taken revert looks to be good for both warrior and druid

Also for enchants and modifiers, only passive flat stat changes scale your feral form attacks. On hit effects do not proc so nothing like fiery weapon on feral.

Proc not working for feral is lame, and is something I hope they fixed

I mean I think it’s fairly safe to assume it scales from AP after seeing all the other changes they are making.

AP increases weapon dps.

This is changed for Forever.

No shot really? Thats soooooooo good. I have plans now.

Yes, they posted it in their deep dive.
“Weapon enchantments and procs now all work while shapeshifted, including effects like weightstones, Crusader enchant, and Windfury Totem.”

I think they said it a few times too during certain panels at Blizzcon or Dev interviews.

Any update on this? Bit bummed to see my weapon proc not working on feral

Blizzards official page for the forever classes says enchant and on hit effects work in feral forms now.

odd, I didnt get a single revelation proc from any feral attacks but got plenty from off heals

I’d say report it as a potential bug. Since it changed in forever theres a good shot that it might be bugged and have slipped through the cracks. Monitoring druid on hit procs probably isn’t something a lot of people are actively monitoring.

Revelation specifies that it only procs off spellcasts, is proccing it off melee typical on other classes? I imagine some procs may count as “spellcasts” like frost/shadow oils and maybe flametongue weapon.

ah silly me then

On hits 100% do work in form. My beta feral has the mace from HoT quest that procs a fireball. It works in both forms.

I would really like some clarity on this aswell. During the deep dive he kept saying all that matters was weapon dps. So does the damage added through Attack Power not have any effect? Will a feral in full strength gear not hit harder then a feral in boomy gear? I think things like Rake have AP ratios but does Claw and Shred not because they say weapon dmg%?

Edit: i understand cat and bear have their own “weapons” that do gain from AP but the way he said it scares me they don’t mean it like that.

Cat and bear will scale at 14 AP = 1 dps

So for cat, your weapons DPS is basically your cats raw attack dmg since cats attack once per second. If you have a 60 dps mace, expect the raw hit to be 60 damage and then take your AP and divide it by 14 and add that. So if you had a 60 dps mace and 700 AP you could expect 110 dmg white hits.

Getting a 10 dps upgrade on your mace would be the same damage upgrade as gaining 140 AP.

Weapon speed is included in calculations shown on dps on weapons, are we positive it is the “DPS” or just the Damage on the weopon

They did specify in the pod cast the DPS listed on the weapon. I mean you could assume it means adjusted for ap so character sheet values or it could mean literally only the weapon dps gear agnostic. That’s kind of the clarification that would be nice to get.
