Sorry, I don’t see an icy veins in depth discussion on it. So… here I am asking and risking getting trolls (and gnomes making random comments)
So, for kitty, what is the general rotation considered? Is Tiger fury considered worth it to keep it up 100%? Does it affect only auto attack damage or does it affect that/shred/claw/ferocious bite? (As far as I’m aware of, it wouldn’t affect rip or rake because bleeds are set damage right?)
I’m assuming agi is a better stat for kitty than strength as I do not see anything saying strength gives more attack power than agi, but agi also gives crit.
And for bears, what’s the necessity of strength to agility? Strength gives more damage and more threat… agility gives armor/crit chance/dodge chance but no AP. I’m going to assume still that getting more agi over strength is important for doing bearform
also, having played both warrior and bear on the vanilla, it seems the warrior has a far easier time gaining rage. Is there some sort of trick to gaining rage for bearform?
I don’t currently play feral in Classic, but as far as I know, tigers fury does indeed effect bleeds. Someone please correct me if I’m mistaken, but ferals want to pop their dmg buffing CDs before applying bleeds on boss fights, and then keep those bleeds up.
That’s called snapshotting, and afaik, it is something that has been around since Vanilla, and still existed for ferals, at least until early Legion when last mained Feral.
Ferals, Affliction Locks, and Rogues I think, all should care about snapshotting.
Gonna ask for a little bit more detail. Are you taking into consideration Wolfshead Helm(Powershifting for extra energy) and Manual Crowd Pummeler?
Not really. It’s in your opener but generally it’s not worth using when you can shred or use ferocious bite(with 5 combo points) instead.
Generally your rotation is going to be, Tiger Fury, Shred, Shred, Powershift, Shred, (at five combo points) Ferocious Bite. Repeat until boss is dead.
Of course, there are going to be times when you have energy on the table that you can use before the next energy tick, and that’s when you’d use Claw or Rake. If you have MCP, you’re going to keep that up 100% of the time until it’s out of charges. Swap to a fresh mcp when you use the last charge.
Don’t bother using Tiger’s Fury unless there is nothing else you can do AND you are already full on energy. This will probably only happen if you’re out of melee range.
We cannot “snapshot” Tiger’s Fury in Classic.
Strength does give more AP than Agility.
Strength grants 2 AP per point.
Agility grants 1 AP, 0.05% crit chance, and the armor.
Agility is more important than Strength until you reach the soft crit cap.
Agility is more important for bears than Strength due to the 2 armor per point and 0.05% dodge and crit.
Tigers fury only affects auto attacks (adds to your auto attack range, it is like adding 30 dps to a weapon), which since shred/claw/ravage is based off auto attack it increases these. Rip only scales off attack power, ferocious bite only scales off attack power , so tigers fury has no effect on these.
Agility is SLIGHTLY more important than strength for cat/bear just because of crits giving extra combo points plus double damage. However, strength will greatly increase your bleeds. So for a ‘bleed and run’ pvp spec, strength would win. For a ‘sit behind boss and spam shred/powershift’ , agility slightly wins out. No way to get crit cap afaik in classic even soft cap.
Gear with 2% crit on it is pretty important.
Personally, I keep strength and agility close , with slightly higher agility.
I think one of the most important stats to get is hit rating to 5-9% , which isn’t available on much gear. At least 5%, most dps get this from talents and feral doesn’t which makes it extremely fustrating to deal with endless misses/dodges/parries from mobs/players.
TLDR: agi>strength slightly, TF doesn’t affect anything but abilities that scale off autoattack dmg, hit rating is important 5% at least
