Hey guys and girls. I’ve been wanting to finish leveling my Druid and to play as feral. But I seem to be having a hard time properly playing the blood talons build.
Am I supposed to always have blood talons rolling by using three different generators in a row all the time? Or do I need to get blood talons to proc then use two finishers and rinse and repeat like that?
I hope that my question makes sense.
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.
Build them and then use them. If you don’t use both before gaining bloodtalons again, you’ve wasted one of the stacks.
Think about it a different way. You want every single one of your finishers to be cast with Bloodtalons, and you don’t want to use a suboptimal builder unless you need to in order to get Bloodtalons. You should only need to do this every other CP cycle since one sequence gives you three charge of BT.
You will occasionally have times when you naturally proc BT such as when you need to use Rake, Swipe, and BT close together. If this overcaps your BT don’t stress it too much. It happens from time to time and isn’t the end of the world. But you should only deliberately trying to activate BT when you don’t have any stacks.
Remember as well that you don’t want to overcap CP when activating BT. So the best time to activate BT is when you have 0 CP since that’s the only way to not overcap CP too much regardless of how many abilities you crit (you’ll overcap 1 CP if all 3 crit but that’s normal.) Which means you want to make sure you pool energy in order to be able to cast all your abilities quickly enough when that happens.
Final thing to remember… Finishers WILL NOT break your chain if you still cast all your builders quickly enough. In most cases this has limited practical applications but it does mean that when you’re in Berserk it’s still possible to cast every finisher with BT while also not overcapping CP, but you need to shift your thinking to cycles in pairs rather than cycles individually.
This is the optimal way to do it yes, but often in raid encounters you will refresh simply because you need to spend your OOC proc on refreshing Thrash and it also happens to be close enough or past Pandemic to refresh Rake before going back to Brutal Slash or Shred.
Honestly, don’t worry about “wasting” BT procs. You’ll mostly get BT naturally by maintaining Rake/Thrash and keeping Brutal Slash on recharge while mainly using Shred. The exception is having to go out of your way to refresh BT during Zerk, but usually you can get away with that by dumping an OOC proc on Thrash and wanting to refresh Rake anyway to maintain the stealth bonus.
TLDR: Worry about maintaining bleeds more and keeping Brutal Slash on recharge and you’ll naturally trigger BT most of the time anyway.
Ok cool thanks everyone.
I wasn’t sure if I should try one of those dps rotation helper Addons or if I was just making it harder on myself. Lol
I would stay away from those addons for something like feral, they don’t work that great for it from what I’ve seen. I tested one out when I saw a buddy use it for ret pally, but it’s clunky and the spell you need to cast changes so frequently with the timers running out or needing to build BT.
You can get a weak aura that will help to track your spenders and how much time you have left to trigger BT, as well as BT charges.
This is the one I use
