1) Ferocious Bite no longer refreshes Rip below 25%
2) Maim damage increased by ~40%
3) Mastery also affects finishing moves. Bleed finishers do not double dip, so basically the only thing that has changed is that mastery now also affects Ferocious Bite, Maim, and Primal Wrath direct damage. It currently does nothing for Savage Roar.
4) Rip has been changed. Combo points now increase the duration instead of the damage. Energy cost reduced from 30 to 20. It is a ~8% damage nerf at 5 points. It is a major buff for applying Rip with less combo points to shorter lived targets.
5) Shred damage increased by ~20%. Stealth bonus reduced from 50% to 30%.
6) New talent Primal Wrath (deals instant damage and applies rip in 10 yard aoe) replaces Savage Roar
7) Sabertooth now refreshes Rip by 4 seconds per combo points you spent on Ferocious Bite. So for example, you can use a 1-pt Rip, and then a 5-pt Bite will refresh Rip to its full 24 second duration. It also works with Rips applied by Primal Wrath.
8) Savage Roar changed from 15% damage to 10% damage and 10% energy regen and replaces Jagged Wounds
9) Jagged Wounds has been removed
10) Sabertooth replaces Predator
11) Predator replaces Blood Scent
12) Bloodscent has been removed
13) New talent Scent of Blood (Thrash reduces Swipe energy cost by 3 per target hit for 6 seconds) replaces Sabertooth
PVP CHANGES:
1) CYCLONE IS BACK =)
2) It looks like "Protector of the Grove" and "Tooth and Claw" are being combined, and changed a little. New talent "Heart of the Wild": When using Regrowth on an ally the initial heal will always have a critical effect and the cast time of Regrowth will be reduced by 50% for 6 sec. Maximum health while in Bear Form increased by 15% and you gain 5 Rage when attacked in Bear Form. You also learn: Enraged Maul Maul the target for 8% of the target's maximum health in Physical damage.
3) "King of the Jungle": damage increase was changed to healing received, and is at 5% per stack instead of 3%.
4) New talent "Leader of the Pack": While in Cat Form, you increase the melee and ranged critical chance of all allies within 40 yards by 5%. Leader of the Pack also causes affected targets to heal themselves for 4% of their maximum health when they critically hit with a melee or ranged attack. The healing effect cannot occur more than once every 6 sec.
5) "Savage Momentum" now reduces the remaining cooldown of Tiger's Fury, Survival Instincts, and Stampeding Roar by 10 sec, instead of resetting Tiger's Fury.

Awesome! Nerfs are just what Feral needed. (sarcasm)

The 8.1 changes are completely seperate from the pvp nerfs that are happening. There's no nerfs in the listed changes.

No nerfs? Except the 8% nerf on Rip at 5 pts, and how FB doesn't refresh it anymore, and the Savage Roar nerf...Did you even read it?
We now have an AOE bleed finisher. Just like so many people have asked for.
Savage roar has been buffed even though some claim is been nerfed. At the same time the lack of energy and rotation gaps may have been fixed by this.
Shred finally got that 20% buff to make it better than rake , even though I think 30-40% was really needed.
Mastery (our worst start) has been improved to make FB useful.
Bleeds will now do more DPS on shorter trash pulls. Many more AOE options. This looks like gold to me.
These are all changes people have been screaming for, and yet so much QQ

Question: Does Sabertooth increase a 1 combo point rip to a 5 combo point rip?
On one hand they replaced savage roar with an AoE Rip like people wanted but on the other they replaced jagged wounds with a weaker version of Savage Roar and jagged wounds was a useful talent that helped deal with feral slow ramp up time.
Primal Wrath would have been a lot better if it were paired with Jagged Wounds.
It's good news that the entire row is now AoE talents so you aren't forced to choose between savage roar or an aoe talent. I just wish SR would have replaced something less useful than Jagged Wounds in the process.

The slow ramp up time has been fixed by being able to Rip at fewer points and shorter duration at same damage per second.
I don't see how savage roar has been nerfed. If 80% of My damage comes from abilities, this should be a buff with me being able to use them 10% more often while losing 5% on it.
09/22/2018 02:31 AMPosted by SiliaQuestion: Does Sabertooth increase a 1 combo point rip to a 5 combo point rip?
I think 1 and 5 combo point RIp do the same damage they just last different amounts of time now. It might be useful because you don't have to wait to build 5 combo points before applying Primal Wrath (AoE Rip) to groups of low health mobs.
Primal Wrath also does instant damage so if you still get up front damage if you have to refresh it. It seems like a likely improvement to AoE damage at least. Once the dust settles and they see how they rework performs they can add or remove 5 or 10% here or there but it was a much needed spec change overall.
Since Primal Wrath is a finishing move Soul of The Forest could be a viable option for it so you aren't wasting CP's to SR upkeep. I'm actually looking forward to dusting off feral for the first time this expac to test them. I'm sure Feral still won't be a top M+ DPS spec (it was really far behind) but it might not be a huge mistake to bring one at least.
I'm really curious how viable a Ferocious Bite build will be now, while skipping Rip/Sabertooth all together. The fact I have to choose between Sabortooth and Lunar Inspiration will annoy me in PvP. I'll probably skip Lunar with Shred actually becoming a slightly viable combo point generator.
Overall it will make us considerably better on trash and it should be net change of may 4% damage (more if you have a certain azerite trait stacked.
I think we should be pissed. Hope your guys like the Bloodtalons > savage roar playstyle.

Yes, but does a 1 combo point short rip get turned into a 5 combo point long rip I'm wondering.
There's clearly a lot of people here who don't play PVE Feral.
These changes are !@#$ing fantastic, i'm stoked.

Why not just do shred rip shred rip shred rip?? Or you know some odd variation of that. A 5pt rip seems like a dps loss with the current wording.
How long is a 1 pts rip? I'm 90% sure they broke something. Like these changes are wackadoodle.
All the had to do was 20% buff to shred and rip lol. And if you wanted to redo the talents. Make SR the aoe finisher and BT onle effect finishers but be 30%. Done

Sabertooth now competes with Lunar Inspiration. Sabertooth is all but required for Feral in PvP which means now we don't have LI, our only source of generating combo points at range, and without spending BT procs.
Bloodtalons should be one of the talents replaced. Who the hell thinks a heal in a dps rotation is fun or interesting? How this talent has survived so long truly baffles me. Also, Jagged Wounds removed feels like a significant nerf to me. And 4 finishers now? WTF kind of convoluted bloat are they going for with this spec? Most specs don't have 4 buttons let alone 4 finishers.
