So is blizzard going to go through with this? Leaving the class in the worst state it can be in with a minor fix(AOE) that doesn’t even count towards our playstyle? Why not just remove it as a whole? You’d be surprised how easy it can become to make the class more enjoyable, even a toddler would know to start with energy management or bleed buffs, not something that has little to no relevance such as AOE when other classes will still topple ferals in aoe fights. Might as well let us be crap at aoe like we’ve always been and fix our single target, but now even that is about to be messed up, gg. Us long time ferals have had enough and since the only of our kind left are mostly pvpers because we know pve is too horrible and we’re unaccepted in serious end game, that’s going to die slightly now with the nerf to pvp. Im going to do sacrificial voodoo with a chicken and wish bad luck on the balancing team. They need to be punished.

Not sure what you mean by ‘long-time’ ferals not playing PvE. I’ve been maining a Feral druid since the middle/end of BC.
Feral ST is fine now and the AOE changes (particularly PW) help a lot with the biggest weakness of the class I’ve encountered so far (large amounts of high priority, medium lived adds).
We still don’t have great utility and I’d like to see that change but we’re viable for a melee DPS spot. There being a very few number of those spots in Mythic Uldir is kind of a separate problem and one that every class that isn’t Rogue, DH, or possibly WW Monk is feeling.
Nerfing our pvp damage and energy without compensation. We all know mastery buffs wont cut it. Whats 16% gonna do when you remove the only trait that makes feral relevant Plus the 20% dmg loss from st. We have xtoo many things to keep track already, why is savage roar still a thing? 10%dmg and energy? Lul.
My AoE has been one of my stronger traits since Lich King, constantly topping charts. Even in Legion it was very strong. The first time I went out into BFA I felt weak. If two mobs were on me, it was a toss up if I would get through. If another mob cam along, that was it, I had to run. I have not felt this way since vanilla. My hopes were that end game would change, the armor would work out, and my numbers would go up, they haven’t. Feral is not fun at the moment.
Feral Single Target has been fine for the majority of the expansion after buffs in August. I don’t see that changing very much with 8.1.
We get the nice little AOE boost which will make us a viable choice in M+ now.
Still lacking some utility. Especially compared to Balance spec. But I see nothing but good changes for Feral in 8.1.
I have been a PVE feral since BC. I haven’t had any issues this expansion staying viable and being taken to groups. I’m excited to have a tier dedicated to AoE. It is a good solution for the feral playstyle and will ensure that we won’t be nerfed in ST just so our AoE doesn’t get crazy. Also with the Rip change, PW will probably be a lot stronger than people give it credit for on multiple mob packs. Especially with the Buff to BT. Target switching can be made in always 3 globals now instead of pre-planning 5 CPS, etc.
Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with the changes to PVE feral in 8.1. People are mad about SbT but people always have SbT, so yeah.
If you ACTUALLY did any mythic plus as feral you would know it is a problem unless you have your own group. I am hopeful for todays changes.
All this people saying feral is fine should be ashamed. Getting carried by other people or guildies is just sad.
LOL this /thread plz. Sick of these PVE only people saying feral is fine. Even then it’s not great. Sure a baby step was taken to give it some aoe, other than that it’s still garbage tier.
By what metric would you consider Feral garbage tier?

this PvE Feral (Since Vanilla) thinks that Feral is still bad… I was hopeful about the changes but energy regen needs to be buffed.

Yeah, I actually didn’t mind feral after the fixes, and actually was enjoying it. But I have to agree the 8.1 is a pretty big nerf and makes energy management feel super clunky again. I think I lost around 3k dps ST, and there were times that I felt energy starved. Playing around with different specs and azerite traits didn’t seem to help much, but I’ll keep plugging away at it. The AOE change, while interesting, wasn’t particularly exciting. I conceptually like primal wrath, but overall I found ferals to be joyless again like at the beginning of BFA. Just my 2 cents.
I was doing more ST dmg in 8.0 than 8.1… everyone was. Go look at warcraftlogs and compare 8.0 to 8.1
Latest Sims are better, dps wise at least. They’re showing what looks to be a crit/mastery focus where it’s all Bite damage and extremely low Rip damage.
