So essentially, my question, as a player who sees Demon Hunters play, but doesn’t play one, is this: What would the PvE implications be of removing Fel Lance from the game? The reason I am inclined to ask this is because it gives a lot of grief in arenas, and if one aspect of Demon Hunter could be removed on demand, I’d prefer it be Fel Lance. That is assuming the PvE balance of the class doesn’t get ruined with that change. I don’t really see DH being an overtly powerful class in PvE, so I’d say they’re pretty balanced, however, when it comes to PvP I have considered making one and just gearing it to low level current tier, like possibly LFR, and stomping arenas to 2200 that way, since the class is basically a free ride to Glad it seems like. Of course, this is just my opinion, and I’m here to have discourse on the Fel Lance ability mainly, so back to the main question: How would removing Fel Lance impact a DH’s PvE balance?
Fel Lance has absolutely 0 implications to DH PvE. It’s a PvP talent only, thus it’s only available for use in PvP instanced content and War Mode.
Demon Hunters are busted levels of strong in 2v2s only. It’s just about average in 3v3s. It’s more of a free ride to Elite, not so much for Glad, but still a good spec.
This 100%. Rain from above is a far better defensive than offensive ability (and really only a good defensive vs melee).
The only place it’s really good is open areas like world PvP/BG when in an open area. Clearly the easiest thing to do is LOS it. If that’s not possible use a defensive?
To be very honest rain from above is about the same dps as I do normally (just from range so if I’m getting kites hard it’s useful) but I lose leech which makes it less than ideal if I have melee uptime.
Ok, thank you for the honest answer and input, I wasn’t sure where that ability was or if it was PvP specific, appreciate the clarification.
Also if you run spell reflect it will melt a DH who isn’t paying attention.
Yes we are busted right now and we better be since we only have one dps spec.
