So i am curious if i feign death during a raid boss and a night elf uses shadowmeld does it effect his combat if i feigning and he is using shadowmeld to break after a wipe?
Why would it?
They both drop combat.
If you feign, a NE melds, a rogue vanishes, AND a mage uses invisibility the boss also blows up from sheer confusion.
that’s what i thought a night elf druid in my raid was telling me my feign death breaks his shadowmeld
If you use a combat breaking ability at the wrong time it can fail.
Such as if you use it before the boss uses a raid wide AoE you might still get stuck in combat.
That, and if the raid is wiping… it’s really a FFA for who lives with combat breaking mechanics.
I generally wait until the absolute last moment to do it as it can be buggy.
This may be due to say a pet not playing dead or someone staying alive and random AoEs going out. But that exact logic is wrong.
^ also that.
If they don’t have the pet play dead glyph… it may go badly.
Definitely not true. Probably has something to do with his proximity to you. If you guys are 2 yards apart then maybe yes. Depends if he or you were in combat beforehand.
Yeah i use play dead as soon as a i wipe is called to make sure they don’t cause problems.
Shadowmeld has saved me numerous times when I feel a raid group is about to wipe.
Saves me on my repair bills too
if you FD boss will go to your pet/ the nelf. idk if pets automatically FD as well now but if not then raid boss will kill your pet and if your pet is near you and boss AoE’s and hits you then i believe this breaks FD thus you end up dead as well and in combat.
meld breaks combat as well so if you FD and nelf melds then boss resets. encounter doesn’t end unless everyone who is alive dies, you can LoS to break combat, or everyone still alive breaks combat via FD, meld, etc…
as long as neither of you move or get hit boss will reset. both skills break on movement thus and many raid bosses do AoE plus with hunters your pet is still active in combat unless dead of glyphed. FD doesn’t affect your pet otherwise and upon death idk if it runs back to your corpse or continues attacking the boss but the boss should likely 1-2 shot it easily
Shadowmeld has a special rule, you have to be the last person alive for it to be a Raid Wipe Protection; Feign Death and Vanish don’t have this rule. So yes if someone used Feign Death or Vanish does cause Shadowmeld to fail because other people are still alive when it was used.
You know many people use the blame game to excuse their stupidity right ?
lol
When you FD, your pet does not FD and may continue to attack keeping you and others in combat or just simply get aggro by virtue of not being dead.
There is a pet ability you can buy at the Legion Hunter Class Hall (Trueshot Lodge) that teaches you the Play Dead and Wake Up pet abilities (learn once, available to all pets). This acts like a FD for your pets. Play Dead is off the gcd so you can trigger it and FD at the same time.
