Calia Menethil is literally the last remaining royal of Lordaeron.

Shoehorned into that, depicted as running away and staying away long after her brother was gone. When she comes back doesn’t want anything to do with being a royal. She’s just some Alliance favoring writers’ fave. We shouldn’t have gotten saddled with her.

Imagine the ‘rightful heir’ to the title of King of France or Emperor of Brazil (yes, that was a thing) knocking on the door of France or Brazil and wanting to speak for people. That wouldn’t go over well.

I’m sure the gal was hiding because she’s a Menethil. I think her character is kinda interesting. It would have been great if she would have been able to get the humans and the Forsaken relatives together, after so long. Maybe at first. But her brother died years before she shows up again. She doesn’t show fear when she does come back. The first move she makes is a dumb one that gets Forsaken killed and herself.

I think Sylvanas messed that up.

This is because they were well into their retcon of Sylvanas’ entire backstory to make her now not care about her own people and their freedom of choice. She’s now in the agrees with Arthas for some stupid reason era.

I think it would be silly if they tried to give someone or a faction the spot light just for the sake of it.

But as a player experience I understand what you’re saying: YOU aren’t doing things, you’re watching NPCs do things. The general Alliance isn’t doing stuff, some very specific lore characters are.

Yes and no.

I too don’t mind being some nameless, faceless murderhobo in the crowd. That having been said, TWW doesn’t feel Alliance beyond a very superficial level.

We’re not really exploring the Alliance, or the Alliance’s interactions with the Earthen or Arathi. We don’t see Dwarves and Earthen sitting together and comparing cultures and practices and history. We don’t see High Elves, Humans, and Arathi working together and comparing holidays and what they know of their ancient shared history.

In other words, we’re not seeing how any of this affects the Alliance and it’s peoples or nations. Granted that’s almost always been the case. Blizzard very rarely takes the time to let an expansion’s new cultures breathe in a way that the factions find connection to them. Even in WoD, the presence of the Horde felt like it amounted to just Thrall and meeting his AU parents.

The missed opportunity was in having the MU Orcs connect to clans that were more myth and legend to them, than anything they clearly experienced. It could have been a renaissance for the Horde’s Orcs, to find their roots and embrace cultures that most had never known, but which resonated with them.

I definitely agree this has been a long ongoing problem especially for those of us who really enjoy the cultures the different races have.

Heck in BfA there wasn’t really anything about the Darkspear interacting with the progenitor trolls. There wasn’t a PEEP from the Pandaren either who have a history of warring with the Zandalari in the ancient past. It’s just very strange they get these opportunities and never use them.

The Shado pan were watching the Zandalari though, you coule see their ship in the distance.

Mogu also had special dialogue when fighting Pandaren.

There is some dialogue on the ship that talks about the relationship between the darkspear and the Zandalari, namely how the Zandalari need to get their sticks out of their butts or some such, referencing how they they think they are the best and above others.

It wouldn’t even need to be forced. There are several plot threads they can even go over for the Horde. We at least should be getting our quests from our own NPCs. Right now it seems forced Alliance. I should not have been in Belameth, Gilneas nor Telogrus Rift.

I didn’t play the Alliance during Legion, I played Horde. She was in that stormy/giant area trying to get the Vyrkul or the big, angel-like ladies on her side. I wasn’t sure what she was doing - but there’s a big fight between her and Graymane. It was pretty cool, actually.

Its nothing compared to Velen, Maiev, Khadgar, Anduin had a lot of growth too.

Horde we had a 30 second clip of Sylvannas with no explanation or tie-in until SL. We had a brand new Tauren variant. Both of these are standalone side stories. Nothing to do with the main plot. Nightborne were a nice addition but it was truly neutral content. In front of suramar you saw both Lorthremar and Tyrande. Both player factions did all the same content. Only reason they joined the horde was to give the horde NightElf models. It was an out of character decision
