Anyone else feeling lost? I’m not here to cry about the changes, just being nostalgic I suppose and feeling a bit lost. Ever since they ripped 2H away from Frost I can’t say I’ve actually enjoyed my Death Knight, which hurts. Since Warcraft III I loved Arthas and the Death Knight fantasy and when WOTLK was announced I immediately switched. But in more recent times frost just feels silly. We’re not the “Heralds of Doom” anymore, we carry 2 small weapons, there is no obliterating with small weapons. I can’t tank so Blood just isn’t it for me, and Unholy… feels more like a BM Hunter, the 2H doesn’t feel like it hits as hard. Feels like its all the ghoul/minions and Death Coil. Yeah, I know, Unholy magic and commanding but its not the same. Ever since they forced Frost into 2H I’ve just felt lost. Constantly switching to Rogue, Shaman, Warrior and always returning back to my DK. No class feels… right. Maybe its just me. Maybe more feel the same. I just needed someone to go to vent the feelings of being dead inside (pun intended).

I switched from demo lock to unholy death knight. It’s been fun so far. I have yet to try frost but the 1h deal would drive me nuts cause I have to find not just one but two good weapons to do damage. My rng would not be that lucky…
I started a couple months before BC dropped but didn’t have much time to play. Dad was in the service and we were in the process of moving. I initially started a NE Hunter because that’s what my friend was but quickly got into warlocks so when BC came out I mained a BE Affliction Warlock and loved it. Then when WOTLK was announced I made my change. For me personally, ranged is boring, I prefer melee these days. But yeah, I just preferred the old Frost because it was YOU chopping down enemies with your massive 2H and not you, your ghoul, minions and everything else. That’s just my flavor on it all though
I think this is common at the moment, not just for you or for DK. I believe it mostly a result of all the class changes, ability pruning and current lackluster class design.
Slightly different view for me i didn’t start till legion, but instantly went dk. Tried uh for about 20 minutes and did not like it, decided to try frost next and instantly switched to blood b/c i don’t have any desire to have to find 2 weapons at any given point in time. Originally, i thought hey everything points to frost. Blue gear everywhere, the frozen throne, northrend loading screens iced out. Keeps going.
Anyway after switching to blood, and playing it for a while I’ve decided the class is fine, im the one with the hang ups and so i let go of them.
Now i have, i do believe, 11 dks. 8 are blood, 1 is my kids and its uh. Other 2 is frost n uh.
Basically i found that a 9 year old autistic can play uh with little or no help and that i still don’t want to mess with frost because all the complaints i see about it on forums.
So blood is me. It makes sense since what i do irl. But it still feels extremely boxed in.
i absolutely refuse to play a pet class. that means no warlock, no hunter, no mage with an elemental, and no unholy DK. the whole point of a wow death knight is frost with a big two-hander like arthas. i come back after a few years break from the game and can’t two-hand frost, so my death knight is retired.
it’s not about hangups. it’s about finding the game i want to play, and it’s stupid. i would rather have had DK’s never be able to dual wield, period. that’s what fury warriors are for.
this, good lord a thousand times this. a death knight is singular. i don’t mind having a battle rez on a cooldown, but i am not a necromancer. that’s all unholy spec is, a necro in plate, which i hate.
Why do they remove anything they do? Just because. Destro lock was 99% perfect in MoP but when the dev left they wanted to undo all his changes and now we have whatever it is now. They remove Feral Glyph of Claws, Lock demon form glyph, 2h frost. Most things just for the sake change.
The justified reason is one spec had to be DW and going into Legion the artifact type locks the choice in permanently. it’s not impossible that now that legion is over that you might see a return of 2h, but all signs point to no. Really just a transmog option would settle everything. They already do crazy similar things like Guardian, Feral, Holy Pally regarding xmog.
