[Feedback/Question - Azeroth Beautiful] You Are on the Right Track!

Hello, WoW Community Council!

Recently, we got a preview of another update to the WoW housing system, and I was pleasantly surprised. Like much of the community, my reaction has been one of excitement, relief, and having my expectations met by what has been shown so far.

First of all, congratulations on introducing and allowing the use of the X, Y, and Z axis during object interior editing.

In an MMORPG like WoW, which features a wide variety of character sizes across races, enabling object resizing is crucial for complete customization. This functionality is extremely rare in editing modes of other MMOs. Not even games like The Sims and inZOI, designed to simulate life, offer this level of player customization.

The “Z Y X axis” typically refers to coordinates in a game engine’s three-dimensional space. It defines a specific point in the virtual environment.

  • X → position on the horizontal axis (left/right)
  • Y → position on the vertical axis (up/down)
  • Z → position on the depth axis (forward/backward)

This is essential for defining the positions of objects, characters, and cameras within a game.

This is Rift (MMORPG) style positioning and movement! It’s also a better dye system than even Palia — which is a housing-specific game. It’s really nice that they introduced this to WoW.

I have a question that wasn’t covered in the topic about the interior of the housing system:

Will we be able to create basements (lower levels) or add stairs for a second floor?

Some undead tend to prefer places below ground level… if you know what I mean.

I believe that adding new systems to Retail that enhance the game’s social aspect is essential, especially since this was an area that needed more attention. Plus, there are many other possibilities that could be developed and integrate well with the housing system.

Now, all that’s left is for me to try speeding up time until the PTR with the housing system arrives!

Agreed, I was also pleasantly surprised. The basic and advanced types of setting up decor looked like a solid start. I love that the in the blog post it was mentioned that if you want to push a chair into the wall we can. I feel like Blizzard has come a long way in terms of letting player agency being restricted like back a decade ago with all the transmog restrictions.

I can see some fun things happening and people getting creative. The vertical axis has a lot of potential too, you could have an almost karazhan-esque home with things floating in random positions for a whacky mage’s home.

I was pleasantly surprised at the preview, even the simple one was nice and then they showed the advanced one. The dyeing system also looks great, would be fun if it could be utilized for armor and mounts as well, even if it would be a limited selection (perhaps a basic footman armor where you can customize the colors. Could even match them to your guild banner which would be solid for RP!)

It would be nice if there could be a more “coherent” video showcasing an entire build (or even one room), even if it’s a WIP. Would probably open up for more feedback if you want it.

Looking forward to the next one
