Simply put, this singular event is not tuned correctly.
The other challenge/reverse challenge races do run the gamut of difficulty. On some, I could get off my dragon and back on and still receive a gold ranking. On others, I had to run them a few times to meet the pretty thin margin of error. I have gold on every other Dragonriding race in the game, including all of the original achievements, the Kalimdor races, and the new challenge achievements.
On Tyrhold Trial Challenge, I’m not even close. The best I’ve done after 50+ attempts is over a second off the gold threshold. That might as well be an eternity with how this is tuned. There is precedent here, as I see you nerfed the Flashfrost Flyover Reverse recently and converted it from a hard race to an easy race. For reference, I got gold on that race pre-nerf, and it was downright easy compared to Tyrhold Trial challenge.
TLDR: this one race is totally out of wack with the rest. I know there have been glitches and exploits that trivialized Dragonriding historically, but this race feels very wrong for those trying to complete these achievements legitimately. Thanks for your time.

I came to the forums to see if anyone else had commented on this particular race as I’m currently going through the challenge modes as those are the only achievements I have left to do for Dragon Riding.
Currently, within the Challenge Mode races, I’ve already completed
- Waking Shores Challenge: Gold
- Ohn’ahran Plains Challenge: Gold
- Azure Span Challenge: Gold
Sure, there are some, ahem, challenging courses to these achievements but the Tyrhold Trial Challenge is absolutely absurd in it’s tuning. My current best, as of this post, is 59.538 with a gold time requirement of 58.000
Every single challenge race up until this point (40 races) - even the challenging ones - have all been cleared within a range of 1 - 10 seconds ahead of the gold timer.
This race’s time (or path) needs to be re-evaluated and fixed.
I’ll probably keep grinding to get it as who knows how long it’ll ever take Blizzard to actually fix this. My lack of patience aside, this specific race needs to be looked at.
Edit:
I finally managed to clear the timer.
In the beginning of the race, the immediate right after the 2nd checkpoint goes into a hill and then goes down to the 3rd checkpoint. If you use Skyward Ascent properly you can zoom over the hill and gain massive speed for the down hill zig zag. That’s where I found my time.
Back on point for this course, though. . . . the reverse version of this is so much more forgiving on the timer. Here is my completed times for both the regular Challenge trial and the reverse:
Challenge: -0.985
Reverse Challenge: -5.493
I also think 1 or 2 seconds should be added to the timer. I’ve been stuck on this one for a while.
This is insanely overtuned and absolutely kills my wrist. It is crazy how other courses you’re able to smash the timer by 5 seconds easily where this one you need to be absolutely perfect and if you make any deviation you’re done.
This race is going to be the one thing keeping me from finishing these achievements. I spent nearly an hour on it the other day. No issue with the reverse one.
I’ve completed every other available race successfully and attempted this one at least 100 times. The timing for the challenge race is absurd.
Going to chime in on this one too. This race may need some adjusting, compared to the reverse challenge, this one is brutal. Should be 60 to 63 seconds (similar to its reverse version).
This is the Mythic version of the race, lol.
Just did the achievement today:
