[Feedback]: Transmorpher Beacon

Personal feedback on the Transmorpher Beacon Toy. These are my opinions on it from what I’ve researched.

Point Good/Bad Explanation
Toy Good The toy seems like a pretty fun idea that provides no tangible benefit for those who have it, versus those who don’t. It’s not Pay-to-Win, which is great.
Effect Good The NPC summoned uses the newer model for Ethereals which is preferable to their older models. Really helps show off the talent of the Art/Model team.
Buff Duration Good 20 Minutes is a nice length for a buff duration. 5 minute transformation effects are annoying and not really satisfying in the slightest to play with.
Buff Persistence Good The effect of the transformation persists through death which is another good thing about the Toy.
Cooldown Bad A 60 minute cooldown ensures that you can’t really enjoy the toy. If you cannot maintain an appearance 100% of the time, but must wait for a cooldown, the toy is NOT FUN.
RNG Bad RNG is NOT fun. This toy would be better if you got to select from a menu what you wanted to turn into.
Accessibility Good The fact that anyone in a party/raid can use the toy as well is an excellent bit of accessibility.
Price Bad This Toy is not worth $10. If it were possible to maintain a specific appearance with 100% upkeep without having to deal with an annoying cooldown, I think it’d be worth $10. Right now, I wouldn’t pay $5 for this toy.

Conclusion: I won’t be buying this toy. Not for $10, and not with RNG and a cooldown that lasts longer than the duration of the buff.

(Edit): Yaeger reminded me the toy can be used by others so I’ve amended my list to reflect that.
(Edit): Illidette’s point regarding the buff persisting through death seems to warrant another amendment to the list.

That’s fine. I’d sooner spend $10 on one of the pets than this toy though. I’d get more use out of the pet.

Pretty much no individual toy let’s you change your appearance 100% of the time.

Maybe you could chain them together to get a good period of not looking at yourself.

Yup, and they’re not much fun either because of it.

I’m just guessing here, but they probably feel that if you don’t actually “play” your character you will lose some of the RPG elements of the game.

What’s the point of transmog or races if you have a toy that can change them 100% of the time?

Kalytha’s Haunted Locket

30 minute duration/15 min cooldown.

I beg your pardon.

I purchased it because I have nothing else to spend my Blizzard balance on. I enjoyed the toy and would like more things cosmetic in the shop like this. I would never want to see armor skins there but mounts, toys, non combat pets are just for fun so why would people care if their in there.

Blizzard is just finding ways for whales to spend their money and get a slice of the pie. The dino mount made them a nice chunk of change so why not?

I’d say the point is, let people be transformed for as long as they choose. I doubt someone is going to look like something 100% of the time after all. Eventually they’d go back to looking like their character.

Pardon granted!

I was unaware of that toy. So I guess you can be a night elf all the time if you want.

With other toys in game that offer more duration with low cool downs, the $10 doesn’t seem worth it. I would rather buy pets, mounts or character service than a toy.

I didn’t know it was rng, I assumed you had some sort of choice. Makes it less appealing to me.

Let’s agree to disagree.

By the way, I love this trinket and the fact my entire group/raid can use it. I would use it much less if I knew exactly what I would turn into.

10/10 for me. Much better than the mounts I’ll never use.

Opinion. Despite how much I hate the Blizzard Store, this toy is amazing and after being transformed into Sacrolash(spelling? the demon Eredar chick from Sunwell) during last nights raid, that by itself is enough to make the toy worth it for me.

Being able to potentially transform into a skimpily clad eredar female with fishnet stockings and a short skirt? Heck yea.

One guildie turned into Operator Thogar. Another turned into Millhouse’s wife(forgot her name, I feel bad). Another was Professor Putricide. We had 2 of the 3 different San’layn Blood Princes from ICC. Hagara from Dragon Soul. It was quite epic hearing all these bosses yell their emotes and stuff during progression.

So yea, despite not liking the Blizzard store, this toy, is definitely amazing and worth $10. However I will agree 60 minutes is a bit steep for a CD but considering during the 20 minute buff duration, it persists through death. Then it’s not too bad.

Don’t worry. That’ll get nerfed.

I do like that it persists on death, but I just wish had the ability to pick what boss or that it was 30 min duration.

What have I done.

Speaking of. Thinking about all the other transformation toys. The only other one that persists through death is the Coin of Many Faces which has a 24 hour cd.

So factoring that in, 20 minute duration, 60 minute cooldown. That’s really not too bad. 30 minute duration would be nice, or picking which boss(even if it gave you a list of like 5-10 random ones each time you used it) would be cool, but as is, it’s still a cool toy. Though, honestly. If we could choose which boss to be everytime, I’d always pick Sacrolash, lol.

-Permanent transformation (until you die)
-3 seconds CD

I agree. We need a menu of selected appearences and not RNG.

Huh, I didn’t know you could make a table on these posts.

On topic: Good post, I’d probably do a bit of reformatting though. The spacing is a bit off on the good/bad columns.
