FEEDBACK: the new bg UI sucks, change it back please

Agreed, I literally see no improvements with the new scoreboard. They didn’t add any new information.

Looks like it follows the core theme of BfA and Blizzard’s development team right now - “Take away, take away, and take away some more.”
When did they become so stingy?

What I’ve seen is a little dark circle that appears below the scoreboard screen. Lasts a little longer than the the gear/box reward etc. things used to be but you can right click it off like those rectangles were. I wouldn’t have noticed if I didn’t happen to look down at something. It’s really a weird way of displaying it but it has been there.

I really don’t like this change to the BG UI scoreboard. I think this is a step in the wrong direction. It looks like they wanted to highlight the visibility of the rewards gained and make it look “cleaner” like a phone app. As a result, there’s too much wasted blank space, and the most important information is harder to scan and read than it was before. The frame is huge but it only displays a tiny amount of information.

I think this would be okay as a basic scoreboard, if we could expand it to show more information (stats). You should be able to get a single screenshot that shows the complete scoreboard with all of the players from a 15v15 at least.

When I look at the scoreboard, I want to see a breakdown of damage, healing, kills, deaths, objectives, who was there and what they did. The 360 bracers that I’m selling to the nearest vendor shouldn’t be taking up space on the scoreboard.

It’s handy for me to know to look for it so I can get rid of it quickly. Otherwise I might start wondering where all my bag space has gone

And yeah the scoreboard now is awful. The smaller the bg the worse it is. It’s like our names on the left, 5 inches of blank space, a clutter of info to the right.

I don’t think I said anywhere that there was a downside to it being displayed. I offered a possible reason as to why it no longer does. I still haven’t seen a single good reason as to why it needs to be displayed other than “it used to be there, so it should always be there!”?

Exactly. In a 10v10 it now crops 4 players off of the scoreboard to make room for the frame.

You should be able to take a single screenshot that shows a complete scorecard.

If anyone’s studying visual communication or infographics, this might make a good example for “how not to”.

common sense and a dash of UI principles show an inexplicable regression

usability and functionality reign supreme, with convenience and aesthetics as secondary and tertiary goals

the new scoreboard guts the fundamentals – quick scan for match perf – to build the foundation for a leap towards deeper-hook gamification: opting for flashy VICTORY animations and reward highlights over a framework that’s meticulously fit-for-task

that which have lasted the test of time demonstrate an intrinsic resilience, surfacing attributes that fit human factors well. if it’s new, it typically gets lost in the static hiss of history

  • change from golden-primary color (high-contrast) to myopic shades over faction color (low-contrast)
  • change in position of metrics – KB / D / HK is now KB / HK / D, reducing visual memory / pattern fatigue
  • addition of filler data that, by definition, adds clutter (e.g. x0 caps/returns)
  • removal of metadata – game length, honor can be important information
  • shrinking of viewport by 20% – e.g. wsg panel shows 16 players over the classic full 20 player panel, with deadspace

Yeah the old bg scoreboard was simple and compact, it had everything you wanted to see “right there” in an easy to read format. It was just better.

This new bg scoreboard has lots of random clutter that isn’t even needed really, for example “secondary objectives”… lol? :joy:

Someone was trying to do an achieve that required them to get a certain number of flag returns.

Even though the returns appeared in chat, they got no credit on the scoreboard or toward their achieve.

My conclusion is that they broke this in the process of implementing the new scoreboard.

Hah!!

It’s a huge amount of wasted screen space. There should be no wasted space, AND we should be able to move the window around on the screen.

I really liked the honor tracker because depending on the map it could show who’s doing well by completing objectives. Something for others to look at and strive for.

On July 9, 2008, Activision merged with Vivendi Games, culminating in the inclusion of the Blizzard brand name in the title of the resulting holding company. On July 25, 2013, Activision Blizzard announced the purchase of 429 million shares from majority owner Vivendi.

I want the option to have more categories and stats to look at after the battle.

interrupts, lives saved, broken capture attempts, damage taken, time holding flag, healers killed, EFC’s killed, damage to healers, distance traveled, cc time, time cc’d,…

Someone needs to make that an add on (besides details!)
