I’m not sure what the point of tabards are exactly, except for looks, maybe, I guess?
I’m trying to get exalted with Zandalar and do more dungeons and raiding. I picked up a lot of the old tabards from previous expansions. However, I’m not able to pick up the newer tabards, until I’m exalted at which point makes them essentially useless except for their looks.
I made it to friendly status with Zandalarians, which took a while. Now I’m stuck in friendly rep and, idk, it would be nice to earn a little extra…
Why give them ANY rep bonus abilities at all if the only time you can wear them is when you’ve maxed out rep and the bonus ability? …its a tease
Semi-related but I’d like the ability to toggle the “flap” on tabards. Some of them clip with certain belts.

Its just cosmetics and in some cases flexing as achieving high ratings in PvP give access to cool ones.

Tabards started as a way to represent the faction and came with a repuation bonus. With the shift to exalted for tabards it was the intention to make them as a “look i finished the rep grind”. I prefer the original, wear them to show support to said faction and get a little bonus for doing so.

Tabards haven’t given rep since cataclysm (2010). Move on from your prior learned behavior. Tabards are almost all purely cosmetic except like tabard of the lightbringer.
For almost all reps with quests in a zone, you can get honored easily. So reaching friendly shouldn’t be a “struggle”.
uh… No. Outside of like one or two expansions, tabards have always been purely cosmetic rewards.

This. Everyone coming in complaining about tabards being useless now are showing they haven’t moved on from/haven’t played retail since wrath and/or cata.

XD lol… i stopped playing when the panda expansion came out…i remember berries when tabards use to help reputation to exalted.
I would love if they put the ability to gain rep back into the tabard, and if they never intend to do that again, utilize the tabard slot with non tabards like bandoliers instead of tieing them to the cloak slot so they show up in the front and back properly, and the plain chest belts like on the recruit a friend armor, tieing libriams and amo pouches to the tabard slot would open up lots of possibilities without sacrificing the cloak or armor slot.

The point is for looks… ?? What are they supposed to do?
They are useless? They are serving their purpose—being a tabard. How is this not immediately apparent. It’s like choosing your character’s skin color. It doesn’t give you any bonus for choosing the green troll skin over the purple troll skin, the point is it’s cool you get to choose.
Xmog is probably the single most important thing in this game. A lot of players care what their toons look like and dress like. Tabards are only obtainable if you get the rep/requirement for it. That makes them even better.
I very rarely see anyone with tabards displayed on their toon.
All I’m saying is why put any stats on them at all, for rep or whatever, if they are just for looks. It’s a tease saying they will offer some kind of stats when they really don’t, and false advertising!
Shirts have no stats, why can’t they do that to tabards too?
(ooo I remember when shirts were added. I don’t tink they were part of vanilla but came after a few patches or expansions or something
.)
Tabards being a means for farming rep wasn’t a thing until Wrath, and only lasted until Cata’s initial reps, every tabard in Vanilla/TBC was purely cosmetic.
