It wasn’t too crowded. It was mostly ok imo. Bad part is 2 days is a really short time to try it out, especially on week time… Once again I’m sad that streamers get the privilege to play on beta and others like me, who are really good customers and invested a lot of money in Blizzard don’t. I wish the stress test was at least extended for the weekend to allow us workers to really try it out. I got 2 characters around 12 this time since I lost all the ones I made earlier on the other stress tests. Still subscribed only in hope to get access to the beta before the true release. Classic is my only interest and I probably won’t play retail ever again since I don’t like the direction the game took over the years. I wish I could just enjoy classic content on official servers even if it would be only up to lvl 15 for more than 2 days. I’ve been waiting so long already for that release and I hope classic servers will evolve at least up to wotlk.
Final impressions from pvp realm #3: it was about as crowded as expected in starting areas for a launch day experience; it did feel too empty after I moved out into other areas, much too empty.
This is what is missing from Retail, crz and sharding have killed this social aspect of WoW and it’s why i no longer play retail.
On topic;
I was on the PvE realm the was listed on top(i don’t remember the number), it was medium population and i didn’t mind waiting for mobs to spawn in the Orc zone. Was a bit slow going but i didn’t careand i hope Blizzard doesn’t cave to the current generation and layer the crap out of classic as it’s what has made WoW the past few years crap with crz and sharding.
Layering will kill the classic feel, the community feel. It was so nice to have people around to group up with, to talk to from the server you play on.
I also noticed that near the zone boarders of Durotar and Barrens there was massive lag with loot and combat.
Yes, server stability was excellent throughout. I had only 2 DCs besides the pre-announced restarts.
Was on server 15, played a human warrior and it didn’t feel too crowded (though I also got ahead of the crowd very early on). The only problem I ran into on this character was trying to find bears to kill for the eastvale questline and then later on when I actually took the tram up to Loch Modan a lot of the mobs on the western part of the zone were dead and took a while to respawn.
Stability wise the game ran really well, there was a point about an hour into the stress test that the servers were really laggy for about 5 minutes but that went away and never reoccurred.
When I made a second character yesterday to level again it wasn’t that bad either to quest except for Fargodeep mine which even with like 10 other people or so there took forever. I can’t imagine hitting that area with the bulk of the player base on launch day.
Overall it felt good though.

server 2 (normal), 11am day for several hours, + day 2 from about hour 30 to hour 44 of the 48 hour test. Yes, the starter zone (northshire abbey) WAS busy, it was still fun. Certainly if there were 5 times as many toons it would be impossible, but I think that amount was okay. We got the first 4 quests done slowly, and things gradually thinned out after that.
-
went to Goldshire, and Jasperlode was okay, not too busy. But after we left the “explore mine” quests and got to running around between eastvale, murlocs, hogger etc it felt like we were the only people in Elwynn, it was a little disappointing.
-
by the time we got to westfall (and with another toon Loch Modan), it was almost impossible to find someone to help do quests, it was a bit disappointing, I figured that nobody was interested in playing as I couldn’t see ANYONE. If the reason it was virtually vacant is because of sharding or whatever, then it’s VERY disappointing.
The game itself played like a charm. very impressed. Thought the gryphons were fast than they used to be, can’t remember ‘opening all’ mail, but everything I played was awesome. Cant wait for classic to hit the stands!
Played Realm #3 I believe (may have been 2, I was just too keen to log in)-

Starter zone (Coldridge Valley) was crowded but it was as I would expect. Was easy enough to level through solo if you explored zone, killed some non-quest mobs and found all quests which others hadn’t started yet. Wasn’t the fastest leveling but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Once leaving through tunnel to Kharanos the number of other players I saw dropped significantly. I still found a few others to group with and quest, but way less than anticipated.
Same can be said for when I went to IF, SW and started Elwynn quests at level 7. Apart from Fargodeep mine, I did not have much mob competition at all. Once I hit Westfall I saw fewer people again, and it felt fairly empty compared to what I had expected.
Overall though I had no issues with stability (though finished work 9 hrs after the launch of test, so couldn’t log for start), latency was normal for me as Aus on US server. Had a great time and loved every minute of it, also met some great people that I could group while levelling. Cheers!
I got my Arena Grand Master trinket in 6 hours the first night. First time around I got 3 chests, 3 hours later 6 more, and then 3 more chests 3 hours after that. You read that right, 6 arena chests in a row. All i had to do was get party invites from my guildmates, and chests were just spawning in front of me.
I dont know what the layering situation was on Realm 3, but its awful. This cant happen on release. Please find a solution.
I was on Realm 3. I was a Troll, ran straight to the Undead Starting Area (Deathknell). The trip was smooth, zep worked fine. Massively heavy competition, took 2 hours for me to leave the starting area at level 5. However that was on day 1 right at the beginning. After leaving Deathknell it immediately shifted MASSIVELY, I picked my gloom weed easily, got my 10 pumpkins only competing with 2 other players, killed mobs with no problems. The next day, even smoother, I figure most people have gone to Silverpine at this point as i’m level 10 and still in Tirisfal, I finish every single quest in the zone (With 0 competition on most of the end quests). Now in Silverpine there was a few people, but the only time I ever ran into competition for any quest was the spider cave in north-west Silverpine, by the coast. Competition quickly dissolved, I got my items. Next day (today as of writing this) it was just dead, nobody in Silverpine Forest. I got to 15, and it was kinda boring, there was just nobody around. I saw one person AFK in the Sepulcher, and one person entering a cave of worgen I was just leaving, but that was literally it. I’m sure there were others I didn’t run into. So I went to Orgrimmar, then Crossroads for a quest from Silverpine. Couple people out there, but its just oddly empty. Orgrimmar was pretty dead aswell, very few people. I ran all the way to Thunder Bluff, bumped into a few tauren leveling. TB was pretty much empty. Day 2 and 3 had no lag, it was great, smoooooth experience. But layering definitely needs to be turned down a notch from what was shown on Realm 3, wayyy too few people. That being said, day 1 was insane. I feel that Deathknell could be mostly solved by simply improving respawn rates. I KNOW that thats not #Classic but honestly I don’t see the big deal in people killing a few copper-dropping mobs faster. Just like, 20% faster on all mobs in Deathknell (can’t speak for the other starting areas). Perhaps you could increase those respawn rates by a flat 15-20% only on the first day? I’m okay with the 2 hour time to 5, but I have a feeling it’ll be worse in the real launch especially if the layering is toned down. When there was an hour left I went to Orgrimmar and hung out with some people, we chatted and had fun, then the server announcement went out about collapsing layers. After the chaos of layer phasing (I thank gosh had a seperate chat channel for /say and invited all of them to my ever-changing layer) there were SO MANY PEOPLE. Like, I don’t wanna give rough guesses, but my FPS went from 85 to 15. I just wanna mention that I still think Capital Cities should just unlayer you temporarily while in them. There won’t be that many people (I would hope) in Orgrimmar in the real launch because there isn’t a reason for everybody to rush there and dance on the bank when there’s leveling to be done. I think major cities are the most important social area in the game.
Overall i’d say this was a massive success, in terms of the stress test half of this test. Realm 3 was sure a rollercoaster, but thats what launches are all about
EDIT: Also wanna mention that World Chat (/join world) was incredibly active the entire time, not so much in the mornings, but otherwise very active. A few hours before the servers closed it was impossible to keep up with, especially if you mixed trade chat with it. This detail is not important, but I figure it might matter
EDIT2: By the way, entirely unrelated to the entire subject, I noticed that when using a Midsummer Fire Festival Ribbon Pole your arms go stiff instead of you doing a Whirlwind animation.
Server 3 i felt had a great start up. First day a few hours in there was some lag experienced probably due to alot of players logging into the world but then later smoothed out. not heavily crowded but still very much alive even ended up having some world pvp occur day 2 of the test.
I made a number of characters on both PVP servers. PVP 15 was quiet crowded the 1st day and very difficult to find a living mob to kill. But that is ok. It keeps you feeling like it is a full world of players. Instead of layering, would it be possible to increase the mob re-spawn timers for the 1st few hours or days in starting areas?
My only issues where a small lag on inventory items. Looting.
Also I got some summoned water from a mage yesterday, and this morning I still had it. That shouldn’t have happened.
Spells also seem to scale with level and I don’t think they’re suppose to.
Wasn’t too crowded, but was tight. Was just like launch!
thye should refine chat some…
75% of tiem all you here is chuck Norris joke
our some kids swearing saying crap about ur mom ect ect our rude sex remarks
classic can do with that stuf id rather sea more chat about the game it self
(Realm 15) Too crowded in the first Zone – Ok in the rest
Hunter Pet is very bugged, doesnt work like in Vanilla at all
CLASSIC REALM 15
Played a male Nelf rogue, made it to lvl 13 and decent way through Darkshore. Mining and skinning were my professions along with First Aid.
One of the main things I noticed compared to private servers is that a lot more grey gear drops from mobs and a lot less bags as well. I also found the Sprint and Stealth animations bugged, my guy didn’t do his actual sprint animation but just the regular running animation loop sped up. Stealth seemed a lot less “loose” feeling, he moved his legs really close together like he needed to take a dump instead of stealthily walking through the shadows. There’s several videos on Youtube from the Vanilla days of Night Elf rogues (they were the Alliance rogue equivalent of Undead back then before everyone knew about “optimal” racials) and the animations seem a lot different than on Classic
I would probably be more helpful feedback if you told them what server you played on.
I was on realm 15, It felt fine in the starter zones for a launch days. I did test all the starter zones for each race.
Played alliance first (plz forgive me Thrall) as soon as the test started until 10pm leveling all starter zones and to lvl 7-8. Deleted alliance toons at 6:30am and started horde, Tauran seemed a bit empty compared to the others but it was early morning and there was still 20+ others there at the time.
I did find a “bug” in duratar where the razermane boars was not affected by line of sight and could climb the mountain to continue attacking you which is very bad for a shaman with no mana who physically can’t get in melee range.
The Zone for orc/troll(11am second day) and dwarf/gnome(4pm right at launch) seemed to be the most crowded due to 2 races starting there. The single race starter zones where populated and felt alive but I could still complete quest while grouping easily. Once I left the starter zone on all races it felt more spread out but you still came in contact with plenty of people to group with to complete quest.
At 6am it did seem there was less people but still felt alive. I couldn’t tell a difference in the afternoon going in to the night. Population felt stable or fluctuated very little between 2pm to 9pm.
I didn’t make it to the second zones though. Wife made me make her dinner
Ah gotcha.
sounds exactly as I remember
I wasn’t directed at you. I’m see a lot of posts that don’t include the server. I don’t think they can do anything with that.
