Let me start off by saying that the arcane changes are a massive victory. The removal of AV and the addition of Intuition are excellent changes. Thank you for listening! I want to give some feedback and suggestion for mostly Spell slinger Arcane and Frost.
Spell Slinger Arcane
With the removal of Aether Vision, Spell Slinger’s main Arcane charge recovery after barrage is removed. I’m assuming High Voltage is going to take its place, which is fine because high voltage is generally liked.
Suggestion for Intuition:
Add interaction between Splinters and Intuition to where Intuition to where Intuition procs more often for SS compared to SF to fill the Arcane recharge gap that the removal of AV left. This would perfectly align with SS’ RNG identity.
Suggestion for Arcane Missiles:
This applies to SF as well, but consider making it worth to fully channel arcane missiles instead of how it is now where it is better to interrupt it immediately. Perhaps the final tick deals bonus damage? For SS specifically, since AM will most likely be cast a lot in AOE now, perhaps add a small AOE component to it. Could be done by making High Voltage procs also deal some extra aoe damage around the target.
Spell Slinger Frost
SS frost has the same issue that Frost mage generally had before the big rework in DF where most spells lacked interaction with Mastery, making a lot of them perpetually weaker. Currently a similar problem exists where some frost spells don’t interact with SS splinter generation, making them often not worth casting. This applies mainly to Comet Storm and Ray of Frost. Another issue is how SS emphasises Frozen Orb a lot and there is still no good way for frost mages to have proper control over Frozen Orb placements. This also often forces Frost mages to play in melee during AOE in order to place their orbs well.
Suggestion for Comet Storm and Ray of Frost:
Make Comet Storm and Ray of Frost generate frost splinters in some ways for SS.
Suggestion for Frozen Orb:
If you don’t want to allow direct placement, please consider some way to make Frozen Orb placements more forgiving. Here are some ideas:
- Increase Frozen Orb’s DAMAGE radius (not it’s hitbox for the sake of movement) towards enemies the mage is currently in combat with OR enemies you have chill effects applied on (or that are standing inside blizzard perhaps?).
- Add some kind of smart movement for Frozen Orb
Additional idea:
This last one is more of a hopeless dream, but perhaps Ray of Frost could one day be reworked to be a giant AOE laser that mechanically functions like Eye Beam? Slap Jaina’s Glacial Ray animation on top of it and it would be the Coolest spell ever made. Also consider bringing back AOE glacial spike. Thank you.
