Feedback: Sentinel in The War Within

Can we please make Lunar Storm be better? A bird with a small circle that poops on an enemy you hit just isn’t it… Need to make it worth our while in both pve and pvp. It’s frustrating when you have a tank that doesn’t sit still and much of your Lunar Storm gets wasted. Because

  1. It’s a tiny aoe circle.
  2. Doesn’t attack what’s in it’s circle unless you deal direct damage to it.

It’s so easy to have dps loss with Lunar Storm because everyone’s constantly moving. We should be reimagining what we can do with this talent.

What I can see Sentinel being in my mind instead of Lunar Storm is you throw up your owl over your head and it deals damage to each enemy struck for it’s duration. Stronger when directed at one target. I’d also be so bold as this owl giving the Hunter Unerring Vision as in meaning full line of sight ignoring effects, power, and secondary stats. This owl should last around 20 seconds. This would turn a huge tide in Hunters favor with new zest, cd, and new visual flavor becoming a famed Sentinel. This new owl will replace Trueshot/Coordinated Assault.

For more Sentinel visual flavor similar to pepe having your owl sit on your shoulder or head.

I think the owl should keep following the main target the bomb was thrown on.

Could be that way too!
The problem is so much dps is lost with current iteration in both fields of pve and pvp. And justly should be addressed.

They literally changed Priests shadowcrash for the EXACT problem Lunar Storm has. There is no excuse for this - it should 100% be an AoE in a radius from the target it was triggered on.

Yeah seems pretty useless if it’s just going to target an area, it should be on the main target it’s procced on.

Yeah Lunar Storm owl should do what Adaptive Swarm does for Druids. Go on the casted target then when target dies fly over to another nearby target and deal it’s damage. Would be 100% better from what it is now.

Been spamming bgs whole day yesterday. Owl is frikkin awful during pvp. I did found out however that owl doesn’t break scatter shot once it starts hitting. So it’s a nice combo if you manage to lock someone inside the area

That is a good bit of info there. We really need to push on the team to fix owl just sitting in one area. It’s not going to be sufficient at all… Needs to stick to a target then fly to another after primary target dies.

After that, Sentinel is golden.

Right now I’m just using it as a defensive, melee attack me I proc it and they get away for a few seconds

The Sentinel Owl needs to follow its marked target around. It is so frustrating to pop Sentinel then 1 sec later the Tank pulls all the mobs out of it due to some melee-aoe ability and your owl hovers there and poops on nothing.

I think we probably would like to know if this is intended or a bug?

Visuals - Only visibile to hunter
AOE Circle - Should it move or be static?

Im just worried that if it is working as intended we will have to play around some WA that tracks the ICD to ensure we dont drop Lunar Storm while the tank is gathering adds.

From running dungeons the last couple of days, it feels REALLY bad having to hold your buttons while the tank is moving to the next set of adds.

Agree. I think the Sentinel community has spoken.

Lunar Storm owl needs to stick to primary target then when primary target dies fly to another nearby target.

Also needs a fix on the delay lunar storm has when damaging a secondary target

Yes please. Leveling right now as Sentinel i have to line up traps or a stun so the mob doesnt move out of the circle. Usually I am running towards the mob so i can stand in the circle with it…

Not to mention how frustrating it is in dungeons and pvp. If the circle moved with the target and if they fixed the bug with Overwatch id be LOVING Sentinel

Exactly Sentinel would be nutty if they fixed it…

I’ve never seen another mmo where alot of things in the physical ranged kit seems to work against it.

Also quicken the animation,
between initial bomb hit and first lunar storm hit there is about a 2 sec delay, you can almost walk out of it …

yup, it’s bad. visually lacking and gameplay wise gives you basically zero control so you end up with so much time where nothing is standing in the stupid circle and it does nothing.

I know this is old, but Sentinel is so frustrating, even just solo. I’ve had so many times where I’ll lob a bomb, only for the mob to move out of the circle from threat interactions.

Also kinda wish it changed the appearance of Wildfire Bomb to be more arcane-y to match it. Feels weird right now to have a fiery bomb summon a pretty blue owl within a blue arcane circle. Similar for Rapid Fire, but not nearly as much.

I’ve played quite a bit of Sentinel before moving onto Pack Leader… man, as visually empty as PL is, at least it complements the kit and feels satisfying to use (big fat numbers make me happy lol). I hated playing around that bird. At least Wild Spirits was a separate button, having the owl tied to my bombs feels so bad, and now the mobs being moved out problem is even worse since the radius is smaller and it’s more frequent. It just feels bad to play, even if it CAN deal good damage.

…tbh I just wanted to see if anyone else shared the same sentiment, since all I see rn are people complaining about Dark Ranger lol. I feel like Sentinel also needs a full rework.

Been playing only Pack Leader on my dwarf Survival hunter since TWW launched

Having to keep track of a static aoe field on a cd tied to a core rotational ability was an instant deal breaker for me. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Not to mention, the theme of Sentinel is too night elf specific, imo.
